My 50cts would be: Board produced by Acube

Acube are not involved with Tabor. Trevor already mentioned in his blog from February that the PCB company they are working with has several facilities in the UK.

The co-operation between Acube and C-Media is related to the open source PPC notebook which Acube have been tasked with designing.

@Rob

I know Varisys is the company known for building the X1000 X5000 and Tabor boards.

But then again, Acube with there previous lineup of SAM boards (same segment as the Tabor) could be a good choice as well. Working closely with Cmedia could produce a "V2 Tabor" with a soundchip (Cmedia) thats supported by Amiga OS4 already.

Also Varisys has been bought by Ultra Electronics..so things might have been changed.

Time will tell.. both option are fine by me. Varisys or Acube... just bring a Tabor to the market

I don't think manufacturing is the impediment. It's either legal issues or software, or both.

Tech handover from Varysis to A-EON was covered in the December blog.

Pretty sure the audio driver that is the hold up. Just prior to gamescon, Daniel Müßener said that he has no audio driver for the A1222 and I'm pretty sure that if it was in a state ready to demonstrate it would have been on his system ready for the show.

I don't think there is any legal impediment since that would require an injunction to limit Hyperion's rights and activities. I haven't followed the case closely enough to know if an Injunction has been sought at any point but I'm certain that if one had been granted we'd all know about it.

@Rob

If there had been, I would have posted it in the lawsuit thread. There has been no such thing.

@Marcian

Due to possible errors in google translate (for OS4welt.de), could you please confirm that Hyperion has a booth at Amiga 34?
Thanks.

Also, since google translate indicates that "journalists" asked either no questions or wrong questions at Amiga32, could you please indicate "who" is going to man the Hyperion booth so that people can put some thought into questions -this- time?
Thanks.

Added: List of exhibitors, no idea if it is current though despite the date:

Currently it is planned (not finally confirmed yet) that Hyperion is attenting with Timothy de Groote, Ben Hermans, Thomas Frieden and Hans-Jörg Frieden. There will also be some guys from the OS 3.1.4 team attending the event.

Finally Hyperion & the Friedens could be coming to the Amiga shows !

From talking to the Friedens from a past event, I felt a sense of progress & dedication in AmigaOS API improvements and that the right people were on the job.

A lot of development tasks and testing can be automated, if not, one should ask why not - speed up development time.

Making programs take time because developers don't have the consistent compatible building blocks required to make programs faster.

I want to see multi core functioning.

Just copying some things here, since people do ask about the show news.

Gunnar expressed a hope to have 50 Vampire units at the show.

He also said:

Quote:
we ship with AROS

and asked about the inclusion of a rom:

Quote:
Yes, AROS ROM

details on the launch and pricing

@kamelito

At least 549 is the price most of us expected.

Seeing recent prices of an Amiga 1200 with 68060 and scandoubler, which are 20+ years old, the V4 is very cheap and can do a lot more - but first let's see the review of buyers :)

£489 seems on the high side to be honest. That's right up into Tabor territory and I still argue that they are competing for the same pot of disposable income.

Yay finally the vampire standalone is here!
The casing looks like shit & the price/performance ratio is a joke.
It will not emulate the amiga any faster than the raspberry but still costs loads of money...
And i guess the price will not include a working normal MMU?

Well i'll buy it anyway!
