IBrowse 2.5 and AmiSSL 4.3 issue

Hello,

I have installed IBrowse 2.5 and AmiSSL 4.3 on AOS 3.1.4. However when I try to open SSL web page it gaves me Software Failure message. Snoopdos says that openssl.cnf is missing in AmiSSL drawer.

I can't find openssl.cnf file in AmiSSL archive. Any ideas?

Thank you

Found it... It seems AmiSSL needs FPU and with ACA1233n it did not work. With Blizzard 1260 it works fine.

@hlt

What card did you install it on? I wonder if it checked the CPU before installing AmiSSL.

But, but... no Amiga software needs FPU!

@Hypex and @kolla, this is strange but I got below results:

1. A1200 with ACA1233n 40 MHz without FPU I get guru/software failure dialog as soon as I try to open SSL web page. Or even if I go to IBrowse settings Security category.

2. Same A1200 with Blizzard 1260 - has no such issues.

3. I did tests with Winuae. I ran same CF card from A1200. When I set 030 CPU without FPU and I get software failure. However if I enable 68882 FPU it works without issues with 030 CPU.

Sorry, I was merely joking, as certain hardware developers have been repeating over and over that no Amiga software really require FPU. I know AmiSSL does :)

Yes, unfortunately, it has transpired that AmiSSL v4 was compiled with the wrong compiler options, IMHO. This will be fixed in AmiSSL 4.4. I am surprised no YAM users raised this issue earlier.

@Futaura

Will this update fix the slowness in HTTPS sites, or it's irrelevant?

@Samurai

I would think it is probably not so relevant, as modern encryption/decryption is rather heavy for 68k.

If I could wish for a feature, it would be to support "external programs" for http and https, so one for example could use curl. Then I would write a wrapper that use rsh to run curl on a remote system (raspberry pi zero), so that the remote curl takes care of all SSL handling.

Probably not, but seeing as AmiSSL v4 could be using 68881 FPU instructions that the 68060 doesn't have (emulated in software via traps), it could possibly be a factor.

I am not currently able to build the 68k AmiSSL, but I hope to change that soon and then we can experiment with optimised builds for each processor to see if that affects performance.
