Impressive work!

Host bridge is really interesting, it could be the answer to many of our problems.

What's the best way to run this on a VM under macOS?

Wow! I would have never in a million years guessed that X64/86 binaries are not compatible with 68k. I guess I learned something new!

I should go out and buy a PPC computer to maintain that 68k compatibility - AM I RIGHT?

@ppcamiga1

But isn't this exactly what you´re after? It runs on top of Linux. With host bridge you get memory protection for all 'next gen Amiga' (read Linux) applications.

Not in his case. He's just a regular troll with one attitude only - bashing aros. Just ignore him :)

He's a very focused and consistent troll I must say. Not much room left for interpretation there. If we really need to have trolls (and it seems we do), then I think they should all be like this :)

@Lou

We do not need Your photo, it is obvoius that You have some problems.

Is it simple.
First thing that should be done after breaking compatybility with 68k software is to add memory protection.
AROS x86 has not compatybility with 68k software and has not memory protection - AROS x86 is shit.
It is obvious.
You accept this shit AROX x86 it means Your brain has malfunction.
It is also obvious.

The logic is strong on this one... furthermore I do know there's a point to be made, but I think it somehow got lost in translation.

Never forget mate, inhale, exhale... merry christmas

I've been skimming @ppcamiga1's rants for months now, and I think I finally understand what he's saying. Maybe. To wit, if you're going to break 68K compatibility, then it doesn't make sense to create another system without memory protection, since the only reason for not adding memory protection in the first place is to maintain compatibility with existing software.

I don't agree with all the "AROS x86 is sh*t" comments. It's still an impressive reimplementation of AmigaOS.

VMWare Fusion. You can install Ubuntu Linux, or Mint, either 32 or 64 bit on a VirtualBox virtual machine and then use it hosted. That's a good solution as well.

Does AROS have Kepler, Maxwell or Pascal support now or is Fermi still latest supported? I had to swap my Fermi card out to get MacOS working as they dropped support for it. AROS needs to catch up a bit!

@Methanoid

Unluckily, situation of drivers is exactly what it was on former releases. No progress has been made on this side.

That's one of the motivations why I am now pushing hosted side of Icaros much more than I did in the past.

I know that Kalamatee updated AROS graphics subsystem on ABIv1 AROS.
This means, however, that Nvidia Gallum Driver must be rewritten/updated as well. Otherwise, GeForce users must fall back to VESA modes as well.

AROS future is in people's hands. If nobody cares of it, its progress will slow down over time.
