@wawa

Nope.
All systems use same binaires .

@kolla

indeed, I and many other watch video stuff via chromecast nowdays.

Accelerated video is handy in multimedia presentations.
(week ago I considered A1222 too slow as multimedia -kiosk HW, but accelerated video improves that use-case alot)

@NutsAboutAmiga

Thank you for the update. I was not even sure how many people were involved with MPlayer development and bug fixing any more.

If you read my post on MZ and Spectre's reply confirming, it is obvious that PPC bugs are not being addressed so much. In fact, what I mentioned in that thread was labelled "invalid" (PPC versions) for reasons I won't get into.

tbh, I'm getting mixed feedback about some things from users.

Has anyone reported any alignment issues, as we had seen long ago? (I am referring to the non-divisible by 16 resolutions of source files)

I am sure you would understand it is quite a step forward for us, despite it being mainstream elsewhere. Certainly a significant investment in resources to implement it.

Friend Amigakit,

is it an intelligent product strategy, to invest significant resources to merely catch up with last-decade mainstream?

Food for thought my dearest friend,

@MEGA_RJ_MICAL

If you are doomed to low computing power cpus it's probably the only way forward to offload as much as possible to the gpu. Not the worst approach to make the best out of the ppc stuck situation...

It's a nice achievement (applause!) and useful for video content. It has to be seen how good codec support is eventually. At least it _is_ an improvement and I actually I like it. Albeit this is not changing much in overall situation and this feature will not drive me into a Tabor purchase (no need, too many computers already, money better spend elewhere).

How about streaming videos from Amiga to Chromecast, and remote control the Chromecast from the Amiga? Via a 10 dollar "pi" system?

We use to have repo on google source sadly the closed down, it moved to sf.net for a while, then I moved it to github. I used to track my bugs on my own web page, during the bounty source campaign, because as changes are replaced up on payment. That’s how that went down..

As for cooperation between different developer like Fab, Itex, Ka1e, Me, MikeJT (Michael Trebilcock), it well talked to MikeJT many times, I have not cooperated a lot with MorphOS developers, I think Andrea Palmatè did more of that, of course the mplayer code I’m working was directly related the Andrea Palmatè version of mplayer for AmigaOS4, that was done in cooperation with MorphOS developer Itex, Fab, I think few more. the MuiMplayer the port Ka1e did from MorphOS, is kind of own branch but it’s not too unrelated. If remember correct there was bounty that was collected to be allowed to port MuiMplayer to AmigaOS4. (Did FAB hold back the source-code?)

Fab does not use repo, this it not so easy to see changed pull changes from each other, and we do not have common bug tracker, so the bugs that is posted over there is not something I will know about. Of course, working on Mplayer is not paying my bills so its just something I do when feel like it or when someone bribes me

So in mplayer there are like few things that is OS related, there is few things that is mplayer, there is the codices that and other libs that bundled, compiled statically into the mplayer.

Bug reported might be useful or they might not be useful as we might using different versions of codecs, we have different video outputs (CGX, graphic.library, P96, SDL), and but we do share some audio, arexx code and other parts, but some of thing might already be fixed on OS4 version that might not be fixed in MorphOS version or the reverse is also possible. because there is no automatic exchange between the different developers.

I suggest posting the bug to etch individual repository, core bugs not related to morphos / Amigaos should be posted to FFMPEG team and Mplayer team directly.

Of course any bugs has to be reproduceable, we need exact config file used, and video file used, and so on, to be able to find the bugs, we can fix bugs we can’t find.

I think MikeJT fixed that in his version, if remember correct not issue that exists in YUV video outputs, bug only existed in the old P96 video output.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Thanks again for the reply.

Actually the long list of people you show is even longer, since I tested the fix and it was sent by someone else who did the work. heh.

I also see Konstantinos (feanor) in some of those threads, so wow. Many people worked on this.

Sure… the list of developers are long, but if you wont get AmigaOS/MorphOS related bug fixed you need to contact once people talked about, most likely, if you wont to get none OS related bug fixed then its core developers, lets say the bugs also are in Linux / windows version etc… then it might better to have MplayerHQ developers have look at the problem. If bug is only show on one type of CPU or model, it best if developer has the same CPU, something to consider as well.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Right. That's what I was saying in post #44.
The PPC dev never responded, so the bug got this peculiar label of "invalid".
Since Spectre's output showed 462h (obvious error for h264), it's not so much "invalid" as "not fixed". heh.

Plus you have codecs (mostly older) that still cause issues. You can see this in the docs.

Not easy.

True but its not "Mplayer" being displayed in the video its "Emotion," so I’m not sure how that's relevant to Mplayer.

Looks to me as some got too over excited about endianness issues, so they swapped the name of codec as well.. LOL

Also we need to slap Spectre for not posting which program his output was coming from.

@MEGA_RJ_MICAL: Hi Franko, still no life?

And - this is serious - using someone others name (especially in this context) isn't a joke. It is stupid and on the fence to illegality.

Friend AP,
I am not Franko, and I can't possibly imagine what might have led you and others into believing I could be him.

Long I have been hovering over these fora without intervening, patiently waiting the right time for my advent. So, I have witnessed the life and times of Franko, and none of his shenanigans bear any likeness to my words, deeds and intents.

As for my name, have you considered that I might in fact be its rightful owner?
Food for thought, friend AP,
FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Sincerely yours,

Not really. But I will ask RJ Mical (I have done an interview with him some time ago, just have to check my Email-contacts).

Food for thought.
