| AmigaOS 4 can play a sound when Workbench opens. But how many of you are using a startup sound? Are you using one of the sounds which came with the AmigaOS 4 or a third party sound? |

I use the original A1000 sound in my kickstarts.
(edit: oh - this poll was OS4 only, woopsie!) Last edited by kolla on 28-Apr-2020 at 08:19 AM.

I would like to use this but I can't. I have a sound card in my sam 460cr. everything via AHI. All sound works but startup sound does not. Not too bad but I have no idea why. _________________ Amiga 500+, Pi 3b+ and Amiga os 3.10 Amikit XE usb Stick Powerbook 17" and MorphOS 3.13 PowerMac G5 2.3 MP and MorphOS 3.13 Sam 460 with Amiga os 4.1 and checkmate 1500 www.sitedesign.be |

Yes, I have the default startup sound enabled, but I do not normally hear it because I rarely have external speakers or headphones hooked up to my system (MicroA1). There is no internal speaker inside my system case.

| I like the original A1000 startup sound, as it always brings back fond memories, but using the "Say" program to have any Amiga system talk to me when starting up is another interesting possibility that I have not yet tried.

I've noticed that the first 1.5 seconds of the startup sound are not audible. You have to add about 1.5s of silence at the start of the sound sound sample in order to hear the actual sample sound at startup. I guess it takes about 1.5 seconds to initialise the sound card.

What an exquisite gift for the ears! After hearing this I can feel my productivity increasing tenfold. I'm a bit disappointed that it's not suitable for AmigaOS 4.2 though. I guess when it's released, I'll have to record it onto a cassette tape, and start it when I see Workbench appearing on my screen. _________________ This is just like television, only you can see much further. |

Friend BSzili, dearest comrade in Amiga of charming yet unpronounceable name! Glad you gave a chance to my very, very personal startup melody.
I will make sure to inform you if and when I release an upgraded version of it, or one that is compatible with the the fruits of the future (and certainly upcoming) mighty endeavors of Trevor and his gang of amiable freaks )
Meanwhile, let me just tell you that reading "cassette tape" was enough to send a shivery of nostalgy down my poor old man's spine. THOSE WERE THE TIMES MY FRIEND, those were the times.

I'm relieved to hear that you will release a compatible version for this much anticipated future AmigaOS4 release. You are my greatest ally! I find it amusing that cassettes give people nostalgia. I still remember loading BASIC programs off Edison wax cylinders. Good times! _________________ This is just like television, only you can see much further. |

I would use both if you ever figure how to get those done.

No. One of the very first things I did was to turn it off. I like quiet OSs. |
