I'm posting a screen shot of a game I'm working on which I'm tentatively calling Black Fang. For more information see my posts about NewCiv, which was the previous name of the game. The screen shot is in the OS4 screen images section. It will take a day or two to be available. Previous images were Windows images. The latest one is an Amiga screen shot. This screen shot shows a new Assign Personnel screen. I decided the old one resembled a Star Trek screen too much, so I changed it. I'm thinking of uploading a introductory guided tour with controlled user interactions. This is so somebody can't crash the program because it's still pretty fragile.

I'm pretty excited about this game. It has a lot of potential. There's also a well-defined concept and objectives. It also seems to be pretty open-ended. It can be added to. It's also controlled by several DBase databases, so it's easy to change the underlying data.

@thinkchip

I look forward to seeing progress on this project.

I meant to reply in your previous thread.

The goal is murky, the graphics are mediocre, and it will never be completed. I'm just one person. I don't have a team of artists like most games. What does it matter anyway? I said it was just a hobby. Is there something wrong with that?

I found some nice free hexes you might want to use.

@Rob

That looks like it could be very useful. I need some vegetation and rocky hexes. That could save me hours of work. I will spend more time and look at them. It might be noticeable that my hexes are a different shape. I made them with certain proportions so they can be reduced in size. I'm sure the vegetation hexes could be stretched to fit. Something that is going to be a challenge is that river hexes need to bend so they connect with neighboring river hexes. Another thing that makes things interesting for me is that my hexes are superimposed on a rectangular grid so half of some of the hexes belong to one square and half belongs to another square. That's so I can use my terrain generator which is made for a rectangular grid. So far it hasn't caused me a lot of trouble and it probably doesn't matter anyway.
