I assume he's got some other people to help him pack and distribute them in the UK then?

@number6

I was watching a countdown on release, which would have hit 0 today.

Now I see things like "34 days".

If someone could post whether we're seeing "place holder" dates or actual release dates, along with direct links to purchase, it might be helpful.

David Pleasance sent an email out Mar 3, 2022 saying that they were very close to finishing Vultures to Vampires - Volume 2 and requesting the postage fee. David acknowledged receipt of my postage fee and asked for my address. It has now been nearly five months since then so I imagine that it can't be too much longer? Anyone heard anything yet?

Just got an update from David on the status of Volume 2. The text is finished and they'll be sending that book out in short order -- I believe he mentioned 'a couple of months' in his video message. But it looks like Trevor collected even more history, and now there is going to be a Volume 3. So looks like I'll be shelling out a few more bucks for that, too. Really looking forward to both books and hoping to have at least one of them by AmiWest.

Maybe TrevorD would be willing to autograph it?

Good news about Vol. 2.... bad news about a Vol. 3 being required! Seriously, talk about dredging the barrel! Why not wait for the court case to be over and then we can unpick all of that for the third book? I don't think the AmigaOne years post Eyetech have been THAT interesting though the VCF X1000 launch in Milton Keynes was a fun day out!

Sure, but then what will Vol. 4 be about?

Given this it Trevor we are talking about,
an oil well analogy would work better.

Now that I think about it,

@gonegahgah

I am not even sure I received the first book. I have e-mailed several times but never had any responses.

The last kickstarter message regarding volume 2 specifically referred to backers outside of the UK needing to contact the shipping suppliers. I haven't watched the included video link, but did see the reference to volume 3.

I reminded him of my address anyway. It was badly worded and could have meant ALL original KickStarter backers who were offered the 'discounted' Vol 2 in addition to pre-order customers from outside the UK! Hard to know!

What is certain is we haven't been offered a discount on Vol 3 nor good reason to spend an extra £55+ total on the two additionally books never 'planned' during the original KickStarter (and never really asked for by us the 'KickStarters')!

If Vol 2 finishes with the launch of the X1000 in 2010 then that would suit me. I assume the third book deals with the 2010s so maybe I'll give it a miss for the price! The story should in theory be more positive than the Quikpak/Escom/Gateway era but without a court case resolution there is still no happy ending!

Maybe Mike Battilana could write the story about how he bought the Amiga IP and helped bring THEA500 Mini to market! That might make for a better rounding off than the expected Vampire boards, X5000 and AROS are available 37 years on from the launch of the A1000 - YAY!

Which e-mail address did you use? I think he had some issues with his old e-mail account and he's been instructing to use info (at) cbmamiga.com for contacting nowadays.

So what is the new time period cut off that Vol 2 covers up until now? I think we should be told how the 2005 to 2021 period is divvied up between Vol 2 and Vol 3 before we invest another £33 in this project!

It must have been the winds of change? A new dawn for the AmigaOne project with Ben Hermans, Varisys, Trevor and the Frieden brothers all working together in harmony! What could go wrong?

With Vampires currently being vultured… the name of this series of books is now outdated and misleading.

Vampire V2 is GONE - all hail the Apollo V2!

@kolla

Yes, we get it!
The official "Vampire" trademark is owned by Majsta, and the going of separate ways of Apollo Team and Majsta means that officially the Apollo boards do not carry the mark of "Vampire".

I too can often be pedantic, but there is this thing called "common usage". It is not a violation of the trademark, nor is it some conversational faux pas to refer to all Apollo FPGA boards as 'Vampire' boards outside of a commercial context.

The same way it is acceptable common usage to refer to sparkling white wine as 'champagne' even if it is not from the Champagne region.
