| Hi Everyone,
On my AmigaOne 500 running OS 4.1FE and latest updates, when you browse with IBrowse V2.5.3 for a while, it crashes the tcp/ip (roadshow) and the Amiga loses internet connection. Only a reboot fixes the problem. I have had to switch back to Ibrowse 2.5.2 which works perfectly. I tried to contact Ibrowse-dev teams but I am having trouble joining their yahoo group. Can someone pass this info to them, so they can fixes this.
Thanks,
Yogi |

I use latest Ibrowse with MiamiDX and it never crash there. It might be something with Roadshow. Maybe you should not contact through google groups but from their web-site? Try to contact both roadshow and ibrowse that way. |

Roadshow for OS4 is way behind the 68k version. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Can you elaborate on "browse for a while" and "crashes the TCP/iP"?
IBrowse is developed on my AmigaOne-XE and I have not experienced any problems after extensive testing using Roadshow here. Nobody else has reported a problem like this, but really I need more details from you.
One thing you could try with 2.5.3 is switching persistent connections off in IBrowse's network settings, as if there is an issue, it will most likely be with this new feature. _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer |

Hi Everyone,
Okay, I have AmIRC running and connected to a trivia channel all the time when my AmigaOne is running (which happens to be 24hr a day LOL). So, as I am using Ibrowse and going from site to site, reading and whatever, after so many sites, say like 6 or 7 sites, I will get a dns lookup fail error from Ibrowse when I try to go to another site and AmIRC gets no response from server error, so it loses internet as well. Only a reset fixes this.
I have installed both version of Ibrowse and I will test on 2.5.3 the turning off of persistent connections and see if that solves the problem. I will report back.
As a side note, Hey A-Eon, we need new AmigaOnes over here! My AmigaOne 500 is getting to be 10 yrs old and Ibrowse is developed on an AmigaOne-XE. Time to get the A1222 to market now!
Thanks,

Hi Everyone,
Okay, I did what you said and turned off persistent connections in 2.5.3 and that fixed the problem. It runs great now.

I wouldn't call this a solution though - you are missing out on the performance benefit that persistent connections bring. Which version of bsdsocket.library came with OS4.1FE? Here, I'm using 4.321. If it is not Roadshow itself, it could be the driver for your network card.
What about your other network settings in IBrowse, such as maximum number of connections and whether you have the disk cache enabled or not?
As I said, the persistent connection support was added, testing mainly with Roadshow, and with the hope that it still worked in Miami and AmiTCP. I did test briefly with MiamiDx and it worked with that too.
You could try using the ShowNetStatus command to try and find out what is going on. For example, "ShowNetStatus tcpsockets" will show allocated sockets (from everything, not just IBrowse). Also, when TCP/IP hangs, try pinging the IP address of your router and also 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS server). _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer |

Hi Everyone,
So, I have AmigaOS4.1FE Update 1 and my bsdsocket library is version 4.307. Why do I have an older version of this library. I am using roadshow that came with AmigaOS 4.1FE. I did not install roadshow myself or use the 68k version. This might explain why this is not working on my machine.
Where can I get the newer version of this library. I did Amiupdate and everything is up to date.
Mystery on this one LOL.

4.321 is available to OS4 beta testers - I guess it never made it into Update 1 . I'll see if I can find 4.307 to see if I can reproduce the issue here too. Last edited by Futaura on 17-Jul-2020 at 08:40 AM.
