Mountlist?

Hi everyone,

I am somewhat new to OS4, but I love it. Got a nice setup running under WinUAE and Amiga Forever. I recentlly added another drive to my Amiga setup, but can't figure our how to get it to mount automatically. I can run mounter on it after I boot and it works fine, but it won't mount automatically on boot up. I have seen an error at times saying the drive was not on the mountlist, but as far as I can tell that doesn't exist in OS 4.1 FE.

Anyone have any ideas what I could try?

Thanks in advance.

@Livebyfaith

Mountlist is so Workbench1.3, however you have your devs:dosdrivers/ technically they are the same, but this are not something you should use, as this set high / low cyl this is something that already exists in partition table, you can use the mounter tool to mount it in user-startup. program Sys:system/mounter can be run from shell, it has shell arguments.

@NutsAboutAmiga

1.3 huh, wow that is old, I never even ran that back in the day, I started with 2.05. I wonder why there is an error message in 4.1 about it. I did try to mount it from User-startup, but I think my syntax was wrong.

I messed around in media Toolbox and I think I may have fixed it. I had it marked to automount, but it said I need to update that my other drive was no longer the last drive.

So it seems to work for now.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

That last drive marker. Yes it has been there since at least OS1.3 and beyond. I think it's more trouble that it's worth now days. It was bad enough back then when a drive didn't show up on purpose. But imagine booting Kickstart off your Workbench volume only to end up being confused by the insert disk screen asking you to insert Workbench.

@Hypex

I never knew that. I guess I never experienced it because I couldn't afford to have more than one actual hard drive back in the day.
