@AmigaBlitter

"Does anyone knows who really have the Commodore brand today?"

Too easy. The same people who have the Amiga brand today...the courts.

@thread

Only for those who followed this current thread and the older thread:

Commodore PET Android 5 Smartphone by CBM Ltd. London

Very well done video that incorporates much of what has been written prior here on AW:

The Great Commodore Brand Heist (from only a few days ago)

I found it interesting that he spoke with Eugene Van OS, whom Barry Altman was dealing with long ago in Commodore USA days.

Enjoy!

@those members who keep asking me

Long time since an update on this. I've posted some items in other threads, but thought I should repost the most relevant and most recent here.

First the excellent recent historical background from Nostalgia Nerd:
Text and Video

Brief recount of the following company: Sean had claimed years ago he was carrying on for Commodore USA. He also changed his branding along the way.
Reference to CUSA
In March, 2022 the aspiring MyRetroComputer (named in the now current infamous Amiga lawsuits] had recently illustrated this:
The Commodore 64 Is Back And Better Than Ever
However, the page now redirects:
Something awesome is in the works!
and
Sean's video
Obvious highlight:
Quote:
We've been granted a license to use the Commodore brand

prior video detailing CUSA connection and thanking AW member Leo at the end

At the same time Commodore Inc. (trademarked Commodore Engineering) has posted this about that:
Fake

Commodore Engineering has posted "news" items on Amigaworld btw. They have also stated some rather lofty goals over at Atariage and discussed certain contacts they have made.

At this time, Mr. Van OS of Yamzz Holding B.V. (who manages several holding companies including C=Holdings B.V.) has not confirmed that any of the other "Commodore" companies has a license.

So I'm a bit confused why one company without a license is calling shenanigans on another company without a license. Then again, we see this with Amiga companies each and every day. *shrug*

Added: Trademark for Commodore 64 also filed recently
No, this is yet another entity from the others mentioned here.

P.S. I've not mentioned the Commodore Smartphone group, since we've covered that topic to death and both C=Holdings B.V. and Cloanto issued public statements on that topic long ago.

Edits: added additional direct references

Yes, they've been reformed again. Inspired by the Amiga Walker design Commodore has been rebooted to create products that literally Hoover the floor! Check out these modernised Commoodre robot vacumns!

@Yssing

The cases from the original molds are a story in itself.

good bit of the history

some later information about sale of the molds

Quote:
PIXELWIZARD Retro Shop in collaboration with Individual Computers produced new transparent Commodore C64C cases

Source for above in the notes

and later still the shop closes

Following the timeline the last statement in the Breadbox thread in April 2021 seems to apply:
Quote:
Pixelwizard has exited the arrangement and any further production will be at Jens direction.

If you locate any newer factual information, please add it here.

CUSA produced their own molds, so are obviously not related to this.

In addition to reviving CUSA's h/w legacy, it is apparent from the latest trailer that Sean also intends to revive Commodore OS Vision:

Here

Interesting (to me anyway) that although he claimed a license prior, he had not mentioned from whom. In the last few videos he has since added to the tail end of the vids:

Commodore Corporation B.V.

Meanwhile Commodore Inc. website (Commodore Engineering) still contains their "illegal product alert" in regards to the above.

Not much newer factual information - but icomp has the new cases in pre-order since June 2021.

Here https://icomp.de/shop-icomp/de/newsreader/items/new-c64c-cases-pre-orders-open.html

And here https://icomp.de/shop-icomp/en/shop/product/c64c-case.html

@Thread

I just read this from the guys at Commodore Inc.

https://commodore.inc/workbenchos-and-commodore/

Quote:
Commodore is collaborating with Giovanni Petrella one the WorkbenchOS creators, to revive and test on modern desktops the wonderful Amiga inspired Linux distro.

Apparently is another Linux distro based on Debian. Codename Amiga AnimaOS.

Maybe I'm being unnecessarily cynical, but it's probably Ubuntu with Amiga-themed wallpaper and the title bar icons moved around a bit. And that name: "Workbenchos" sounds like a menu item at a Mexican restaurant.
