| Hi, I have an X5000. I downloaded AmigaOS 4.1 FE update 2. The latest version has the hotfix. When I click install, it says it has to change some Python files first. Then I get a message that says it can't find module AmigaOS_InstallLocale and the installation fails. I did format the drive and reinstalled AOS 4.1 FE update 1 first. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

Sounds like you have a corrupt download. The AmigaOS_InstallerLocale.py which contains the AmigaOS_InstallerLocale class is definitely in the copy I downloaded and installed on several of my test machines (X1000 and X5000 so far).
Could you check the length of the file you downloaded - AmigaOS4.1FinalEditionUpdate2-53.14.lha? It should be 33747262 bytes.
And if it is, try an md5sum on it. I get:
c6b60e169ff35655a4aa3a8d90b6e5b0 AmigaOS4.1FinalEditionUpdate2-53.14.lha
If any of these don't match, redownload the file.
Best regards,
Niels

I used WinZip to extract the file and there were errors. Tried it again with unarc and it's working now. Thanks. Now I'm trying to rebuild things. This is what happens if you start out with a fresh install. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I didn't know OS4 had a port of WinZip. |

The biggest challenge is installing Cubic IDE. it hasn't been updated for 20 years and the installer broke long ago. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I no longer use Cubic IDE (switched to CodeBench yonks ago) but recently I tried installing GoldEd from the Cubic installation CD. Funny thing: it did install but the mousewheel no longer works in the editor. No idea what the culprit might be.

| Luckily the individual modules of Cubic IDE have installers. The main installer script doesn't work. I'm going to give Codebench a try. In the past I haven't been able to find a way to buy it. Probably you install the trial version and it gives you the option to buy it. I would definitely pay if it did what I need. When software isn't supported it's time to move on to something else. It's been time to move on for a long time.

It probably uses NewMouse events. Try installing Macc and have it send NewMouse events. It's a checkmark._________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

C:IPrefs has a NEWMOUSE switch to send old mouse events. Think I will test it. |
