@agami

The fact that some people 'choose' to define themselves and shout to the world regarding their sexual predilection definitely without a doubt can and in my opinion should be ommitted from video games. It's their personal choice but their bedroom activities are none of our business and are not worthy of 'pride'! People should be 'proud' of completing Spiderman not in the fact that their sexual fetish is represented as a flag asset on a street within the game!!

Ah, the "any reasonable person" argument. Straight from the fallacy handbook. We used to call this one the "no real Scotsman" back in the day.

No, this is nonsense. What did he actually do and was it worth a ban?

If he produced a mod removing the flags and replacing them with the existing ones, and that's it, he's done nothing wrong.
He's committed no "hate crime". It's not even as if pride flags are on display continuously in the real world (not yet anyways).

Perhaps the developers included the flags to celebrate members of their team that are gay/trans/etc. (More likely virtue signalling, but that's another story). The developers themselves could have complained and perhaps that may be different. However it appears it was the mod site that took offence and decided to do this.

@BigD

You have a smutty mind.
Pride flags, much like all flags, are about identity, not about sexuality.

Qualifiers do not automatically fall under the banner of the “No true Scotsman” logical fallacy.

I can’t use the colloquial “Everyone knows”, because someone (unreasonable) will cite how this or that anecdotal evidence nullifies the statement.

I can’t use the fairly accurate “Most people know”, because again those that do not by default apply reason would ask “Did you measure? How many is most: Is it 51% or 2/3 majority?”, usually out of an emotional response to feeling personally attacked through self-categorization into the “Not most” group.

Reasonable simply means those that reason out the proposition and their response, instead of letting their emotions dictate their participation in the conversation. This cuts across a diverse swathe of any given demographic; IQ levels, age groups, gender, personality types, nationality, creed, economic standing, health condition, etc.

I couldn’t think of a more apt inclusive qualifier for the point I was conveying. If you know of a better one, please share as I am always happy and willing to improve my reasoning faculties.

So only “hate crimes” rise to the level of warranting intervention?

Let’s say you’ve created a piece of art, and it is now available to the public for all the reasons you wished your artwork to be consumed. It could be a piece of music, a book, a movie, and even a video game.

Then someone takes your work that is appreciated by millions (platform) and usurps it to further their views which is antithetical to your own views, which for whatever reason is part of you narrative, and part of the success of your “platform”. They didn’t bother to put in the hours to create their own art work to convey their narrative, and it wasn’t some harmless prank to get a few laughs.

Would you not use any and all means available to you to disassociate your work from those who don’t share, and moreover oppose the ideas that your platform is built upon?

You might say “No”, and that is you prerogative. But that doesn’t make the actions of the game/mod producers/distributors unreasonable.

@agami: but not banning a people for that. This is pure CENSORSHIP!

"Your idea is good only if it's like mine". No way!!!

And this attitude shows an Animal Farm -like deviation of the society.

Now, time to travel: see you in some days.

“Some people say”

As in “some people say Amiga never existed, that it’s just a hoax, and that anyone who still believe Amiga was real is just a delusional and confused person who should seek psychiatric help.”

What on earth are you talking about? It was a modding site. The whole point of it is to share alterations.

Beg to differ. It's a modding site, not the game producer's site. Someone on the site, dedicated to sharing alterations to games, decided his modification was ban worthy. It replaced some instances of a flag with another from the same game. This was his crime.

Do you get it yet?

Why care? Worse “censorship” happens on amiga forum sites.

The last bit is not too far from the truth. We must all have a few screws loose as enthusiasts of old computers that have orders of magnitude less processing power than an average smartwatch today.

We are not identified by our sexual preferences, period. Those that think sexual attraction defines their very being are deluded. At the end of the day the ONLY identity that matters is whether we 'follow' Jesus or not. Those that do are called Christians and those that don't are non-Christians. We are all either male or female as described by our chromosomes and a judgement call is normally made in the case of the rare intersex cases. The rest is purely chasing after feelings and infatuation. I 'feel' like I should have been born a boy etc.

Society should protect the concept of equal opportunity (not outcomes). The RAF, once a beacon of efficiency, chivalry and valour is now a laughing stock because it is considered more important that it reflects society in its recruitment than it is to instill and preserve the character traits we require for national service and ultimately our country's protection. I couldn't care less if more mixed race women are encouraged to fly F-35s as long as the 'system' promotes team work, selflessness and most importantly... an understanding of a life of self sacrifice and service and what it looks like practically as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

Imagine the guy had modded Wolfenstein NWO to replace all the Nazi flags with pride ones, dressed everyone in kink and replaced all weapons with bubble guns and water pistols. Maybe then you could say he's made something genuinely and intentionally offensive.

Or has he? Unless you know the person and their motivations, it's just your interpretation of the end product. It could just be a piece of interactive performance art, for all you know.

Go one further, society should do its utmost to guarantee equal opportunity. The outcome, whatever that is, can at least be attributed to fairness and human nature. Jordan Peterson has made this point for years. Of course, now that he's been though depression and poor health and has emerged again as a self-declared Christian (not sure he's your brand exactly, so obviously just another hellbound heathen) whatever he says will either be dismissed as religious dogma, or burned on the existing pile of white man's privilege, patriarchal privilege, or whatever else. Even if it's something he has said since before his "rebirth". Like this thing.

@kolla

But Spiderman is a video game and would probably have had an Amiga version if C= hadn't dropped the ball in the 90s. This new discussion about modding and swapping out woke assets is as relevant as ant topic on here IMHO.

The nearest thing to a Spiderman game on any Amiga machine is being able to play the 32X game The Amazing Spiderman: Wings of Fire on Pandory on THEA500 Mini! No politicised woke rubbish on there. Maybe a far more palatable "Winners Don't Take Drugs!" warning from the era but that was mainly arcade games!
