Poll : Will you buy a full size RGL Amiga console?
Yes, it's a no brainer
Yes, depending on the cost
Almost definitely
Maybe especially if I can't get a Classic up and running
No, emulation is not what I want/happy with Classic machines
No, THEA500 Mini is enough!
No, I prefer other FPGA solutions like the Vampire SA, Mister and A600 GS

THEA500 Mini has a sister product in a full size Amiga console coming in Q4 next year!

@BigD

No, definitely not.

What interests me really right now is PowerPC laptop project, that looks interesting to me.

I’m not happy with Classic machines. I don’t like emulation much.
FPGA are interesting, but I’m critical about Vampire project.
TheA500 mini is that more or less what you are talking about, not interested, too slow CPU, I want a good FPU and MMU.

I was looking for pancake option but can’t find it.
(if you want to buy it, I don’t care, it’s not my business, what people like or not. you don't need to ask for permission to buy it)

@NutsAboutAmiga

If people have an interest in AmigaOS 1.x-3.x then I think I've covered the major options. The laptop is a long shot considering Hyperion need to be on board, and you don't need a PPC to run Classic software!

@NutsAboutAmiga

I guess I should have mentioned WinUAE and Amiga Forever but use the last FPGA option for that I'd say.

We don't really know what was meant with a ' full-size Amiga console' maybe it will run AOS4 in QEMU.

What use would that be? Since when is OS4 relevant to the mass market mini console consumers that RGL targets? This is a Classic Amiga product and OS4 is already served at the 'low cost' end with the A1222+ solution!

@OneTimer1

I probably like that, but I won’t buy it, as I already have hardware.

@BigD

As some people are saying A1222 is too expensive for some people, but comparing with yourself is not a good idea.

If I was to go for one of these prebuilt Amiga emuboxes I wouldn't want something as bulky as a full size Amiga 500.

A600GS isn't FPGA based.

@BigD

I went with Yes, depending on price.
I picked that as the most realistic option, but i don’t expect that the full size console would exceed double the price of the A500 Mini, in which case it’s a no-brainer for me.

A networkable Amiga-shaped gaming computer console, with a working keyboard, and perhaps AROS 68k or Amiga OS 3.X, with custom game loader like in Amiga Forever, operating at 060 speeds + RTG should do the trick.

Yes, for case and keyboard alone I will buy one. Provided the keyboard has actual Amiga layout - been waiting decades for a real Amiga USB keyboard!!

Do we know what it is? RPi based? No idea personally. Linux box?

Forgive me but it's not like it's been well publicised what it is!

And not Amiga 600 keyboard layout? Numeric keypad please. Amiga 1200 design instead of Amiga 500 design please. At least the USB Amiga layout keyboard, USB Amiga tank mouse and USB CD32 controller would offer some value even if the SBC is not what I want. Can I replace the guts with a MiSTer?

The A600GS is a custom SBC with ARM Cortex-A53 SoC like THEA500 Mini but it has more I/O options enabled.

Depending on what hardware is in it I'd likely replace the internals, but would definitely buy one as long as it was a proper Amiga wedge style case and Amiga keyboard (a500/a600/a1200, which doesn't matter too much to me).

Neat, interesting there saying full size CONSOLE, shouldn’t it be computer?

I think that was the biggest mistake with the A500 mini making it just a console, reinforce people memories of Amiga just being a gaming machine, which is a shame.

Still it be nice, if they do produce a new Amiga keyboard which I hope can be used as usb keyboard, that would make it a buy for me.

@amigang

I too plan on buying this. I was quite impressed with the C64 Maxi version and having a proper keyboard plus some extra USB ports made a big difference compared to using the mini version.

I figure the Amiga 500 Maxi as we now have to start calling it combined with something like Amikit sideloaded would be a welcome shot in the arm the 68K Amiga scene needs.

@outrun1978

It would be interesting if they use fpga and allow clockport and expansion port so that it could use previous hardware, and even to build new one like it's done on other fpga projects where you can for example run old cartridges
