| Hi!
After I did not like the options in this other survey I did my own survey.
"Use most" is also meant in the way of "are most interested".
This survey has nothing to do with Hyperion. It is for my private fun

Sorry to say that, but although I have my real Amiga side by side with my Windows machine, I rather use my Nitendo Switch (custom) and run my apps from the EMU ! Last edited by liquidbit on 15-Dec-2023 at 12:04 PM.

I *used* to use a X5k system until it went bust about a year ago and as the main reseller, alias the board's production coordinator (let's call him 'Matthew' for want of a name), does not respond to my emails about the board's repair, be prepared to me bailing out of anything Amiga.

Mostly MorphOS on various machines and AmigaOS 3.2 on a Pistorm equipped A2000.

In my case, "most used" is not necessarily the same as "are most interested".
I have an A2000HD and a MicroA1.
I am posting using IBrowse 3.0 on my MicroA1.
I like AROS and MorphOS and OS4 and emulation.
---
I use emulation for some very old favourite programs.
AmigaOS 3.2.2.1 running on E-UAE running on OS4 on my MicroA1.

My most used is WinUAE on an i5 at work.
Most interested in both PiStorm, and Buffee and the custom chip replacement project. 68k seems to have the most development of both OS and hardware these days.
It has been almost seven years since I owned a NG Amiga (SAM460). I miss certain features of OS4.x, but WinUAE on an i5 blows the SAM hardware away in terms of processing power. It is also affordable for a low-income guy like me. Last edited by PhantomInterrogative on 19-Dec-2023 at 10:58 AM.

My "daily drive" Amiga systems are really the MiST and the good old Minimig.
The reason why these are my most used systems is that they are rock solid, while my other Amiga systems tend to be in some sort constant transition or testing phases. The Minimig is currently running a quite naked OS 3.2.2.1, the MiST is running a blend of OS 3.2 and various. Also I am using my own locales which aren’t necessarily for my "region", breaking the end user agreement east and west and all over the place, as the OS developers of OS 3.1.4 and 3.2 themselves at the time stated that noone reads it anyways. So disregarding everything in the EULA and I have specifically not bought OS 3.2 for all systems I use it with. I never got a straight answer from anyone at Hyperion or the OS team whether systems like Minimig and MiST were even covered, because if so… anything goes, right? All my systems have Roadshow, I believe it covers 5 systems at a time, and frankly, I rarely have 5 systems up at once anyhow. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

THEA500 Mini obviously as it's plugged into the TV in the lounge and the kids can use it unsupervised! Great machine! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

I really wonder on what you say on processing power.
Does not agree with my own tests. Heretic2 (I use that as performance measurement) runs on software renderer on QEmu on i7 2.8 GHz at maybe half the speed of an x1000. Yes, Workbench is faster on it, but that's probably due to more modern harddrive and filing system on PC mainly. There is still a big performance gap from x1000 towards emulation system (and UAE is still slower than QEmu on my system).
Of course Emulation systems are perfectly usable but still slower than an actual NG Amiga (the performance difference is probably larger compared to x5000).
And yes, in native executables the PCs would be faster.
I have to admit no idea what "Buffee" refers to. PiMiga is this referring to PiStorm or something else ?
@kolla
They probably do not care on what system you use the OS as long as you get one licence per system where you use it No idea what Minimig and MiSt even are I have to admit.

Yeah, it is really a flaw that you cannot select several options in my survey. Also that you cannot select "use most" and "most interested" separately :( |

You could have allowed multiple selections and you could have chosen more broad categories IMHO. I think NG OS with PPC hardware could have covered MorphOS AND AmigOS. Also, Vampire and PiStorm could have been one. Then there would have been room for Arm Based mini consoles A600 GS and THEA500 Mini, Classics and Emulation on Mac/PC/Linux with UAE/Amiga Forever. What else if there? All bases covered.
[Edit] Oh yeah, AROS...easy to forget! I count 6 categories then so you could gave had pancakes too!!! Last edited by BigD on 16-Dec-2023 at 10:08 PM.

Wow, where the hell did 2023 go?
While I didn't get around to doing as much Amiga stuff as I'd like/hoped, the systems usage in 2023 beaks down as follows:
Apollo Standalone V4 = 70% MorphOS (Mac mini) = 20% Amiga OS 3.9 (A4000) = 10%
In 2024, I'd like it to be:
Amiga 1200 + PiStorm = 60% MorphOS x86 = 20% Apollo Standalone V4 = 15% A600 GS = 5%

Buffee is the vampire killer. An ex-Apollo Core Team member used a TI ARM SoC with an unusual bus adaption feature to provide 68k emulation on ARM for classic Amigas. This was before the PiStorm but fits in a similar category.
Dedicated Amiga FPGA hardware: MiniMig (originally real 68000 CPU with FPGA chipset but later TG68 FPGA CPU), Natami, AC/Vampire
Universal retro FPGA hardware: MiSTer, MiST, FPGA Arcade, Flea FPGA Ohm
Amiga hardware+emulation: PiStorm/emu68, Buffee
Proprietary hardware+emulation: THEA500 Mini, A600GS
Emulation only: (Win)UAE (I believe PiMiga & RetroPi use UAE on a Pi), QEmu
Then there is newer acceleration hardware for classic systems. There are at least 4 different 68060 accelerator board designs since the Amiga became retro which is why the supply of 68060s have dried up and rev 6 68060s which can be clocked to 100MHz cost more than the accelerators.

AmigaOne X5000/20 and AmigaOne A1222 are my main systems, used nearly every day at home. In fact I only use my office-supplied ThinkPad for work and any video streaming needed to watch NFL games.
I'm hoping QEMU becomes capable enough to run on my work system so I can travel with my AmigaOS tools and data more easily. Until then I take my portable A1222 setup with me.
