Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : We're moving to Europe
posted by DaveyD on 17-Sep-2004 0:02:57 (6513 reads)
We're moving to a faster server in Europe within the next few days, this is due to poor support at our current server provider and the need for a faster server based in Europe where most of our users are from.

There may be some downtime during this crossover period, but will we keep it down to a minimum.

Update: We have now moved

This might be a good time to get www.bodie.org to point to the new server...

Does this mean much [or anything] to us on the Pacific Coast of North America? My old world [18th century?] globe shows us as being on the other side of the world from Europe. It just doesn't feel like we are that far away from Europe.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

It means that if the loading times are too slow, or the chat lags too much we will have to fund a West Coast mirror for Amigaworld.net.

When I first found this place, I thought it was a UK based Amiga forum. There was all this talk of Bath, Peterborough, Scunthorpe, etc. When I saw that it was OK for Australlians to post here, I knew then that they'd let anybody in.

Don't go

I like my fast load times... I've been spoiled all this time.

That's interesting

at work I may see the web page slower (I think that my proxy is in USA but I'll have to confirm it), but at home faster (Spain)... as I have less bandwitch at home I prefer it. Thanks!

Do you know if an USA company can buy some IPs and later when they open offices around the world use these "American" IPs in other countries?
