| Too bad the Mini-ITX AmigaOnes are only sold with G3-class CPUs. Kinda kills the whole living room scene if you can't watch movie without losing frames. |

| Erhem.. loosing frames with an G3 CPU. I think not. If you have a good gfx card and overlay support (I guess?) this won't bring the CPU close to 100%
Anyway, it feel kind of wrong to present this news item this way. I think we're still a bit off when it comes to TV-out drivers on the uA1 am I right?
But it's a nice case indeed.
Now what we really need is a KILLER multimedia interface, something like I presented in this thread.

| Atm G3 loose frame rate indeed but thats because there is no overlay (etc)yet , this will happen shortly...
The Smart drivers will own for sure....
anyway....G3 has no vector unit so... i wont use a G3 unless i have to.... _________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com

| Coool.
I have here internet via the cable, so that would make for me a kind of settopbox with AmigaOS.
I see a bright future. _________________ A1G3-SE + OS4.1 u1 iso (x2)

| DO NOT GO FOR PLASMA OR LCD TV.
Both technologies SUCK at present level compared to a good 50Hz widescreen (don't even get me started on "100Hz technology").
A good projector is the only thing that doesn't actually suck at the moment. And you KNOW you can get a pretty damn impressive projector at the price of a horrible plasma.
Of course, if you happen to like the moving-gas effect of plasmas when displaying anything even remotely red, or like the truly horrible LCD TVs (I can't find any TECHNICAL reason why they should be bad, all the ones I've seen have just been horrible), then by all means, don't listen to me. But anyone who enjoys a plasma or an LCD TV over a projector or a standard television (obvious pro is that plasma/LCD takes up less space, though) needs their head examined. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). | I'm using Linux for my media centre. Strictly speaking, I can't ever seem to remember having logged off? It takes less time booting than my AmigaOne would at the moment as well. Except my AmigaOne doesn't take time booting, because I cannot make it boot (only Linux using diskboot or CDs are bootable here now).
It's a good thing that boxes like this are now available, even though this one suffers horribly from design. A bit too many curves and stuff... _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). What is the stance regarding having in-line images within a news item? Personally, I don't like it very much - any other thoughts? _________________

| Unfortunately it you plan to use an u-A1, then you have to use a G3 right? :)
@Shoe
Indeed. Myth TV would be superb to have ported.
Wouldn't we also need drivers for a TV card? |

Doesn't the u-A1-C take standard XE megarray cards though? I which case, has anyone tried it with a G4 yet _________________

| I hope this doesn't mean that every reseller will begin to show their tower soloutions for the µA1
I don't really like the cabinet (want a simpler one), but I guess it will look good in many peoples HIFI rack. _________________

You mean MicroA1-I which has G3 soldered on board ?
MicroA1-C can use CPU-cards so i don't see any reason why you could not use G4 with it.Last edited by miksuh on 05-Nov-2004 at 10:04 AM.

Nah, I never would buy a 100Hz (BTW, is this 120Hz in US?) or Plasma/LCD TV, it would be too hard if I couldn't shoot the undead anymore

It looks like to me that they are more of a designer company then a reseller though. |

| Day of The Dead 2? I have been too scared to play any game like this playing Resident Evil 2 on a playstation on a Huge TV through the night in a very old house. So old the toilet wasnt even in the same building. Walking through the garden to go, at 3am in pitch dark after running away from zombies can be a very surreal feeling.
The online order system is being completed while distribution partners to offer service and support to Amiga users are also being finalised. Please email sales@digitalpowerhouse.net for more information.
The Pegasos and micro-A1 will fit into the case. Full size A1 will not however as they are ATX form factor. All future revisions of the micro-A1 are also gauranteed to be fit into the case.
For PC users running Amiga Emulation, there are many companies making Linux and Windows compatible mini-itx systems. VIA, Commell and Lexcom have the most popular and widest ranging motherboards. Commell offer P4 and P4 M systems for the mini-ITX platform. The EPIA range of motherboards from VIA only go up to 1.4Ghz so some people may feel that a P4 is needed to get the most out of the emulation for the Amiga. |

Well, it's not against any rules that I know. There have been many news items here with images inline (the OS4 Pre-release CD's story come to mind quickly). Anyway, I've moved the image down a bit so that it only appears on the full story page, and doesn't slow down the main page for dialup users. |
