| Can't be too hard to get such 3D-adventures using another engine than that of ScummVM to be ported, right? |

| exie: there is a 3d plugin for Grim Fanadango allready on its way into scummVM , sure it is far from "complete" still but it is there so there might be a hope for atleast the oldest ones
For your info the engine is called GrimE.
-------------snip
http://www.scummvm.org/subprojects.php
Residual (cvs module 'residual')
Residual is a LUA-powered 3D GRIME clone, designed to run the game Grim Fandango. Why 'Residual'? Because this engine covers games that the main ScummVM application will not support due to their 3D nature. Also, GRIME is a residue. Yes, we know, it's a bad word pun.
Residual's core is in a fairly decent state, however it is not in full-time development and as such is progressing slowly.
----------splat.
but yes broken sword 3 doesnt use this engine at all and getting this supported at this point will be impossible if not revolution decides to support the scummVM team....but Grim Fandango and Monkey island 4 might not be too far away. _________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com

| helgis: the thing is, no one wants to recode a game to work with another engine.
ScummVM was made because of 1 reason in general , to get the ScummVM engine based games to work on "new" hardware , scummVM is not an emulator but an interpreter (use's the orginal data files but things have been changed in order to get a "better" result). (theese days running a game in ScummVM has proven to be better in all cases , better resolutions , filters , window/fs mode , no bloddy dos parameters for old soundblaster/adlib games etc and that is why scummvm is so popular and developed at the speed which it currently do.
As far as Broken sword 3 goes (and other adventure games like syberia 1+2) ...the engines theese used belongs to the team who made them and well an engine in most computer dev houses is their key to success and they wont hand such over in most cases (unless its getting old and they want to support projects etc...like revolution did with Beneath a steel sky , broken sword 1+2 and so on.)
read up on this link to see some of the new stuff to come in scumm eventually, its pretty darn cool: http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Engines _________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com

| @Toaks If Revolution do what they did for BS1 and 2, then when they're "done with" BS3 they'll release the source code to the SCUMMVM team... BS1 and 2 actually have nothing to do with SCUMM; Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion is/was a Lucas Arts technology. Revolution released the source for modification and inclusion into SCUMMVM - its so nice when companies do this sort of thing.
Edit: I should read the *full* post before submitting. Last edited by Reaps on 02-Sep-2005 at 12:09 PM.

No, as I haven't got them, but if anyone out there has them and would like to write a review, we (Total Amiga) would be VERY interested _________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card.

Could you? That would be great, we would appreciate that very much. Are you still able to write the other article you mentioned to me in PM? _________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card.

| Expect a much more polished package with Broken Sword than the previous Monkey3 / Sam&Max
The new installer script will automatically addbuffers / add assigns / install the cut scenes zip file and I've just added an uninstall feature.
The previous titles will be updated this week to the new 'standard' so if anyone is reviewing the titles, I can send the new revisions of installer CDs. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS
