Any chance of getting a faster mirror somewhere?

Would this mean that it might be possible to get OS4 running on the good old A2000 when it is released for the classic or is it just wishfull thinking? I have one sitting here with a video toaster in it. Would be really nice to have a PPC and even better to be running OS4.

Thumb up for the bravery and the spirit, to trying to push the classic hardware to the limits. And thumb down for risking so valuable and unreplaceable equipment.

Conclusion: I want to do that too!!!!1111

Yeah, it took about 5 minutes to download the teaser yesterday (4.5MB file). I just tried the larger 131MB one again and it's still the same. I get around 10KB/sec download speed which is indicating somewhere around 3 hours to download. I suspect they have put some sort of download cap speed on the server. Oh well... maybe someone will host it somewhere else. Until then, I'll just have to settle for the teaser version.

kewl to see it working, even cooler if OS4 someday will run on this setup, you might end up beeing the only one to ever run OS4 on an A2000.

i see i have to up it a bit to beat this little project of yours

the only question, that naturally springs to mind is, can the a2000 and the dev ppc board be "cooked" down to a new and "relativly modern" mobo??

all the schematics of the a2k must be available...

The stopmotion video was a little sideproject I made after all the shooting of the real video was done while Jan was transferring the video data over to the computer for editing... If you know Jan you'd know he doesn't posses that kind of childish humor... no that's all thanks to your's truley.

I thought it would make for a fun "teaser" but we decided not to release it as it showed of the hole hardware part of the project and that would've taken away some of the reason for making the big video.

Ok... It is cool to have PPC 603 in Amiga 2000.

I have two of them and I will love to rivitalize my precious A2000s by overdriving them.

Where I can find any PPC Developer Board by Cuberstorm????

Or at least it seems to me that it supports only these developer boards...

Am I wrong?

Can we put into A2000 another PPC603 developer board from any different manufacturer by hacking connection slot?

Or perhaps then it is useless and limited only to those who have a Cyberstorm developer board...

I think you've got it a bit wrong... we used a PowerUp Developer Board made by Phase5 specificly made for their own CPU card CyberStormMK2. PowerUp is the name they called their PPC solusion and it came with both a 603e 160Mhz CPU (clocked at 150Mhz) and a CPU socket in witch you could reseat the 060 CPU from the CyberStormMK2 that you removed to make room for the PowerUp Developer Board.

Hey cool video. Nice to see it can be done, but I would not get anyone's hopes up. Phase5 is long since dead and no one is going to create a new PPC board for the A2000 or even produce the "developer" PPC board from Phase5.

This is just yet another piece of PPC hardware that is never going to be released for sale to end users... :(

Phase5 it is actually bPlan building Pegasos and efika machines.

We could ask them original designs and then manufacturing new expansion boards in China by collecting a concrete number of orders (100-200 orders or more) from private users and send it all to a firm producing boards ON-DEMAND.

I think that bPlan will be interested in this operation because then a vaste number of A2000 could be upgraded.

This fact will allow these A2000 to run MorphOS for CSPPC expansion boards that is already available.

So bPlan which is partner of MorphOS team, could agree in releasing the design of the boards. This will help them in increasing userbase and convincing more people to upgrade to new machines, when these people will discover how cool are new Amiga OSes.

Or perhaps we could offer them a certain amount of money to release the design of the boards.

It's not that simple,you will not be able to find many of the parts used on the PowerUP cards anymore, let alone lead-free.

Yes I know some of the current bplan are from phase5 days...but I think there is a 99.9% chance that this will never happen.

Great idea, and if you can pull it off I will eat my shorts...but as you can see from the video the developer board doesn't properly fit without a specially made riser card, and then the A2000 case would not fit.

Then you have to admit how many A2000 with Blizzard 2060 are actually working and still in active use...?

Then you have to figure out the cost of such a card, both to produce a small run and then the cost to the end user.

Compare this with the cost of buying a Pegasos-2 (ok no longer available), but then perhaps the Eifka or Pegasos-3...

I think you will find it will not be cost effective, nor performance wise, anywhere close to Eifka or Pegasos-3 (ok if and when it comes). Not to mention SAM, or the Troika boards, or whatever...

My A2000 with 2060 does still work, and I tend to keep it like that. Also the 040 boards will be useable I think . And there are more than enough working A2000's, they were and will be the strongest bigbox ever made for ever. I have 10 in working order and if you watch the battery I do not see a particular reason for failure.

But in the other way, Bplan being Phase5 ? ... why never a new revision of blizzards came out if it is all that simple (and needed) .
