at the end of question 5 (last week) he seem's to say that the Q&A will now be bi-weekly and that will then be revised when OS 4.0 is released.

(or something like that)

shouldn't that have been at the beginning of this weeks Q&A?

Likely the Q&A Sessions will become bi-weekly from now on. However I have emailed Fleecy to ask for confirmation and more clarification and when I hear back from him I or other AmigaWorld staff members will add an update to this news item.

IMO this is probably the most sensible thing to do. The Q&A Sessions were intended to be targeted at the entire Amiga community, helping to address false rumours and worries. However some leading rival webmasters do not want to report these sessions anymore due to their frequency and thus this goal cannot be achieved.

He dodges quite a lot of the questions, and I assume that's
to be expected, since answering many of them would
probably only be giving more fuel to the wars in the forums.

I find it good AInc (in the guise of fleecy) seem determined
not to make any more accusations and claims "beyond what
they can prove" (I suspect fleecy's use of the word "prove"
is going to be dissected heavily by the MOS users over at
ANN). This strategy, quite evident in the last months of
silence from AInc, is wise. Unfortunately AInc will have to
start pushing plenty of products out the door if they want
to turn public perception for real. But one small step at a
time, I suppose ...

I'm also impressed as to AInc's continuing willingness to
accept blame for many of their past PR - mistakes. Let's
hope they do actually, as he says, from now on behave in
a way that wins back the trust of the masses.

It's a little disserting that he won't give any more info about
AInc:s internal structure. As in my question - I wasn't
overly interested in getting names and e-mail adresses to
each employee, I was more interested in something like "We
have a group of X people working with AmigaDE -> AOS
integration, a bunch of very talented guys devicing a sound
system for ... and ..." etc. As far as rumors go, this is what
worries me most about AInc - the similarity to
Amiga Intenational under Gateway, that always said their
"internal developers" was working on stuff without giving
any details - and ultimately, no results either. I'm not saying
it's the same situation at all, just that it gives me bad
feeling of deją vu. Apart from Messiah on these forums, it's
all a black box over at AmigaInc. In my own, most humble
opinion of course.

I thought so, too. The answers were more direct and to the point it seemed this time.

and here I am jabbering away again :)

about the internal developers, it is true that we(the internal developers) have been targeted individualy aswell as the Company by some less inteligent individuals(LOL) so the choice to make em known is a tricky issue.

But both me and HMetal are around and the others do check most things out and reply when they feel like it. What we do in terms of development will be known when we are ready to relese the gear we work on.

Personaly I did tell(here on the forums) some of the things I and others work on(to the extent that I can), although I do have to add that if people are genuinly interested in what we do its not all that hard to get in touch with most of us through various DE related channels.

Again as soon as Amiga is ready to release stuff it will be known far and wide :)

Time for F1 :)

Later

@trgse
re. fleecy saying "that the Q&As will now be bi-weekly" wasn't part of the answer to question 5, I accidentally pasted that from his email.

I've replied to Fleecy regarding the frequency of the Q&As, I've told him that 60% voted in a Poll for the Q&As to remain Weekly and that site traffic increases by x1.5 on Sunday and Mondays.

So there's still a lot of interest in the Weekly Q&As and the Q&As will remain Weekly until we run out of good Questions to ask. I'll re-run the Poll to make sure members still want the Q&As weekly.

I am glad that my question was anserwed. I think it is a good idea for AmigaINC to come up with a standard case for the A1. Otherwise it could get lost in the crowd. Maybe not the way that Apple has gone (seen that) but maybe just a standard ATX tower and Desktop case with a front panel that has some sort of designing on or something.

Just my 2c

I?m pleased to have these weekly Q & A sessions.

There is not a great deal of real information on things Amiga but lots of speculation and
rumor etc. This provides a nice point of reference and sanity, at least for me .

@SlimJim:
I have been wondering about the size of AInc too. I understand them not wanting to
expose that information for all the various reasons but was hoping for an answer like:

?We are more than 3 people but less than 50? (or 20) - whatever.

@Messiah:
I appreciate having you and HMetal pop in too, not mention people from Hyperion as well, very helpful and hopeful.

Bob C.

Me too.

I'm not too fussed about a "Standard case" for AmigaOne though. Just a Kewl backlit nameplate or badge.

Regarding Storm C:

Should they still be using the Amiga certified logo?

2) Desmon: Why hasn't Amiga.inc stepped into the Amithlon/Umilator argument and taken on the distribution themselves?
Fleecy: It is a very complicated situation in which multiple parties have taken positions that have made it difficult for any solution that is acceptable to all to develop. We are as interested in seeing a resolution as everyone else but a lot needs to happen to achieve this.

Why does he bother putting his hands upon the keyboard if he's no going to actually answer the question?

Because it was a question asked by an AmigaWorld visitor and selected by AmigaWorld staff to be answered.

If you read the author's reasoning, its likely that this question could not be answered to its full extent without mud-slinging or finger pointing, something Amiga does not want to resort to in public and we could do less with within the Amiga community.

Hmmm i read & re-read his reply and i would say he did answer the question.

But i think i know what your getting at.

You want pacifics that would mean naming names and that could lead amiga, inc in court.

off topic, but talking about courts. What is happening with the Genesi/Amiga lawsuit? I haven't had much interest to follow after the first few days. Settled, or still going on?

Other than that, Moss is being maybe even a little too much cautious. Comes with the new Amiga Inc. policy I guess.

*I* interpret this as "We would love to go in and take over
distribution, but it has been impossible to do so due to
inconcileable differences of interest between parties
involved. [I won't name any names], but this deadlock
probably won't resolve itself anytime soon, - so our hands
are tied." ...

I'd say that qualifies as a (wrapped-up) answer.
How would you interpret it?

Part of the problem is thinking in terms of "rival" webmasters. It isn't so much a matter of rivalry, from what I've read on the other side, just the fact that the Q&A sessions roll around so frequently and with so little hard content that it's hard to consider them news. If fleecy says something specific that's newsworthy, OK, but the mere fact that the Q&As were posted isn't really news since it's a weekly event.

Maybe your goal was unrealistic because in this market there are some people who will jump on anything to start an argument. Authoritative words from Amiga, Inc. might help calm down rumors, but the other edge of the sword is that fleecy's posts themselves can inflame people if he avoids answering them. Or people might just argue with him as well.

Anyway, if the Q&As are considered valuable by the visitors to this site, that's probably a good enough success in itself. Pushing announcements of the sessions is probably counterproductive if people don't find enough substance in them. Then it looks like you're trying to just push the site itself or advance some other agenda rather than inform the public and dispel rumors.

This is a commendable concept and I thank you guys for coming up with the idea.

I'm sure there are many Amiga users, like me, who pop in here each week to check out the questions and answers.

But the fact is, that Fleecy is very careful when he answers the questions. Even though it pisses me off when he skates around certain questions, I realize that he has to be careful to protect the employees, certain secrets that should not go public yet, deals that are not written in stone, etc., etc. ...

Careful answers are not the kind of news most of us are looking for ...

Be assured that if there was some real news, the other sites would post it.

For example, if AmigaOS4 was released to the public, the news would reach the entire Amiga community like wildfire.
