| Ok, this is important step, aros is inside ppc domain, but then what?
We have 4 amiga os without true new software and hardware. |

| Great.....
But... Again, why would anyone want to run Aros on a more expensive/underpowered PPC board when they could run Aros on a x86 board with lots more power and cheaper ?
edit: Ah, forget it.... its getting old....

True, Ubuntu's very nice, but if I could get AROS to run on it it would be a whole lot better. _________________ -- -=#Val#=- Valiant@Camelot

| Good job, but we need besides the OS, software, as games, this a good first step to buy a Sam440, but I hope that it works better than PC version without sound. |

Where do you live? On the moon?
New AROS poting is for Samantha and Samantha IS a product ACTUALLY on sale...
And with the summer follies you can purchase it at 299 Euro included shipping with the "SUMMER FOLLIES" offer...
http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4449
AROS is free
So with just 299 euro you could have a modern Amiga-Like experience.
Hardware and OS ARE HERE NOW!
And about the software?
AROS includes C++ compiler and MURKS!IDE, so you can create your own software if you are capable to programming...
You are not capable to programming but you are enough experience to use appllication builldings tools like Amiga Vision, Can DO on ancient Amigas, or Visual Basic on PCs?
Then at the cheap price of 70 euro circa you can buy HOLLYWOOD for AROS and you can create your own AROS software with visual programming.
Also various software is beginning being released for AROS too, like WookieChat...
What do you want more? _________________ "When the Amiga came out, everyone [at Apple] was scared as hell." (J.L. Gassée, former CEO of Apple France and chief of devs of Mac II-fx, interviewed by Amazing Computing, Nov 1996).

Do not forget that Hollywood AROS is currently only i386! AFAIK currently no word from Hollywood author that he will support ppc AROS.Last edited by Lazi on 26-Jul-2008 at 12:03 PM.

| @Raffaele :
Aros is free, ok, but my pc too. (Already bought.) So running aros is cost 0 ¤ for me, if i want to.
To run it on a slower, and overpriced machine and pay for it, is not a good deal. If i want to run aros as a same like machine than sam, i can buy it only for 40¤ (intel945+Atom) So as a current state it is nice to run AROS on sam but, it has not so much benefit.
As a lot of people think here if sam can run os4 or at least Morphos2.0 the situation will be different. Then the now overpriced mobo will be as cheap as possible, and it's slowliness will be the opposite for most of us. But now this two os is not available, or running on it.
About AROS, i think it has the best long way opportunity. Running an os on x86 is the mainstream now. If os4 or MOS appear in macmini or other ppc fueled mac mobo, then these os-es get only 2-3 years plus. |

Well, right... Except th fact that Andreas Falkenhahn, the author of Hollywood is one of the few programmers in Amiga scene supporting all flavours of Amiga-like operating system... (very heroic guy!)
He knows how works Hollywood for AmigaOS PPC, He knows how works Hollywood for MorphOS PPC and he knows how it works Hollywood for Intel X86 AROS (not to mention Hollywood for AmigaOS 3.x motorola 68xxx) and IMHO I think he made it with the same developing tools and then he deserves nothing to recompile on the fly AROS X86 version of Hollywood to make it available on AROS PPC version.
I think also that if there were enough requests for AROS PPC version of Hollywood, then he could release it with ease... _________________ "When the Amiga came out, everyone [at Apple] was scared as hell." | Just out of curiosity, and for my own edification... how many people have downloaded the AROS ISO and have successfully installed it, and are now using it?
May I have a show of hands, please?

| i have now been waiting ages for a updated x86 aros(it all started so well), if people have droped all the useless porting like this(there have been to many) we would had a very good x86 version of aros today with amiga emu integrated, firefox and aaaaalot more.... but people focus on wrong things and we get nowhere, if this continue and people dont get their act togheter and focus on the most important version of them all the x86 version of aros, it will just be a useless os ported to many platforms with no software... That is your opinion.
You are welcome to it.
However, this will NOT degrade into an x86 argument, so don't go there.
Consider this a warning. _________________ ¤¤ Official Hyperion Zealot ¤¤

eh?, so i got a warning because i have my own opinion now.. i can assure you that i have no intention to start a x86 discussion... its very frustrating to see aros being missused like this to sell hardware, that is depending on amigaos4.0 to sell at all... _________________ I was a ZX Spectrum owner....

What misused? Why is OS4 the only OS that will sell this mobo? This does sounds like sour grapes IMO. People wanted an Amiga like OS on a PPC mobo, here it is. If it doesn't have the specific corporate label on it that you wanted, sucks to be you.
