Very cool.

ACube must be busy - I placed my order a couple of days ago but no reply yet.

Huh? I didn't think so. What did you do, follow the link? My decision was not to.

@Sam
Didn't you see the news? ACube say their email server was "overloaded" by the amount of emails they got (or something like that). Although apparently they'll get through all the emails eventually.

I was very surprised to read this: Quote:
OS 4.1 adds resource tracking, a feature originally scheduled for the very first release of AmigaOS, but abandoned due to time constraints. This means that the OS can clean up resources used by an application that has quit and doesn't need them any more.

Is this true, or did he just make it up? This would be a major feature, but I haven't read it anywhere else.

edit: Finished reading the article - very good, told me quite a few things I didn't know about OS4.1, and the installation summary put my mind at rest that installation should be easy. But I would still like to see more reviews of OS4.1 on a SAM440

@Pentrite

Not surprised, great article! Forwarded it to some of my PC owning friends who have a soft spot for the Amiga. It's not so much of a 'sad sack' story if you can actually buy hardware and software at the same time for the platform. I always felt embarassed giving updates of the current Amiga OS situation. Now at least the platform has the air of viability!

I've waited 13 years - another few weeks won't hurt.

Good review. Enough long to get the point and short enough not to be bored ;).

Look for one think... if we had Amiga hardware 5, 10 years ago... I would be using a Amiga laptop for sure which boots in 5 s, and... ehhh.

I'm so happy about Sam440 and OS4.1. Thank you! I hope there will be enough for me!!! ;).

The very first release of AmigaOS was a long time ago, 1985? Is he confused?

Yes it's true. Resource tracking is already in 4.0. But unfortunately it's not everywhere.

No. Resource tracking was originally planned for the Amiga OS 1.0.
