Looking good. I might be tempted to replace the A1SE quietly chugging away here for 6+ years now.

Although "news" would be that it's actually in stock for order somewhere...

375.00 EUR = 359.249 GBP...

Guess it's AROS and UAE for me then...

Is 667 MHz still only the fastest version of that CPU?

And if so why not fix a Zalman VF-900 to it and clock it at 800.

Price is slightly better than the sam440, at least, although it's still a $525USD motherboard, without even RAM. Also, no Gig Ethernet

I'm guessing no sam flex for me, either.

Is this the whining d0c spoke of?

I'll meet you in Branson and we can wine together.

Good news! It's about 90 EUR cheaper than the 440ep 667Mhz.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but it's not ACube's fault that we are broke!

True, but on the other hand, ACube will have to take that into account if they want to sell to us. That 90 Euro cheaper will quickly disappear when it comes time to buy a graphics card and RAM, which both come with the SAM 440ep.

Of course, the price should come as no surprise given the relatively low volumes. However, I do hope that they can get the price down, or release something with much higher specifications.

Either way, it's good to see the flex board is nearing release.

Hans

At least it can have 1 GB of ram now and a couple of extra PCI slots doesn't feel quite so cramped. It will probably be almost $1000 U.S. dollars fully outfitted with hardware, case, and OS but the added features puts it over the top for me. I'll probably buy one when available.

As a normal user, not having 1 Gig Ethernet is good, cause it won't be wasted.
Bandwidth on cable is still no where near that.

1Gig RAM, what are you going to load to even use that much on an Amiga?

667Mhz is the only AMCC chip in that class, but moving to a 1.0 - 1.5Ghz AMCC should be possible by 2010 / the future, as these chips exist already for evaluation purposes.
Right now if the code isn't optimized for 667Mhz then its not the hardware's fault, its the programming teams fault. We Amiga users know this cause 6-14Mhz was enough for the 68K classics for a long time.

This is great and I'll buy one. It's cheaper than my Amiga4000 cost, or my AmigaOne.

The more boards we have also means the more hardware that will make it to the used market at even lower pricing.

Pre-order now for delivery in December 2009

Hopefully sooner but 3 months on the existing board now seems to be about average.

I personally would like to know if the smaller (17x17cm) will still be produced, I thought that SAM being so small was a very good proposition........and it fits my newly designed case.

I think that SAM flex was nice but...
Too expensive(with ram and gfx boad will be same or much expensive than ep and that's not good...).
And too low powerfull...I know that the current AMCC wasnt produced more powerfull but maybe an overclock was possible (maybe 800MHz?) with a fan on the cpu?
Idf yes I'll considering upgrading my A1SE if not I dont like to spend money to get same thing, or better, a less/same powerfull cpu(I run at 666MHz too) and a less powerfull gfx board(I've a Radeon9250 with 256MB ram on AGP)...
Naturally hoping that my A1 wont get broken(crossing fingers!)...
IMHO naturally...

Do not miss that Acube are still using that
crappy 100-pin DDR SO-DIMM.

There is no way in hell we will find that
memory type in Sweden.

Normal DDR SODIMM are 200 pin wide..

Oh, and why didn't they connect a PCIe-slot
and wired it to the PCI-bus? Just like bPlan
did with the Pegasos and the AGP-port.

This would make the total cost lower and
would be much more convenient for the
end-user.

PCI-graphic cards are getting really hard
to find.. You won't find them in your
corner computer store.

Hmmm, it's approx 100 euros = £100 cheaper than the original Sam440, so I don't see why anyone's complaining that it's "expensive". For AmigaOS4 this is probably as cheap as it's going to get, at least for a couple of years.
