   posted by Rogue on 21-Jun-2009 14:09:30 (22563 reads)
Antwerp, Belgium – June 21, 2009

Hyperion Entertainment announces the immediate availability for download of a new “Quickfix” package for all versions of AmigaOS 4.1 (i.e. AmigaOne, SAM/SAM Flex and Pegasos II).

The new “Quickfix” package is available for registered users of AmigaOS 4.1 and incorporates the first “Quickfix” package released earlier this year.

Features include:

* Improved overall system stability
* Fixed shared object handling especially for larger applications
* Fixed Radeon Warp3D graphics drivers
* Increased performance of IDE drivers
* Fixed JXFileSystem issues with file scanning
* Fixed Sam440ep ethernet driver to work with hubs and Envoy.

Installation of the new “Quickfix” package is highly recommended.

This is the result of the work of the team... I appreciate the thanks, but don't limit it to my brother or myself, there were a lot more people involved in it.

Now to get round to finally registering on Hyperion's new site.

Excellent work. Congratulations to the team.

some feed back:

Of the initial issues I had encountered only 2 are still present.
(Have not tested the screen blanker issues out yet with the update)

(1) from time to time screen blanks with compositing enabled when moving windows.(not so frequent will continue to test)

(2) DVPlayer still needs NOTRIPLEBUFFER tooltype set or it will feeze the whole system.

@Spectre660
It would help to mention which hardware you are using, e.g. A1, A1micro, Sam440 original, Sam440 Flex, Pegasos, etc... (I assume the Flex)

Nice update

The first software I tested to see if the warp3d bug was fixed did not work warpview 1.04 in warp3d mode, but that looks like a program bug not an OS4 and I dont have a copy of the previous version to test. So could someone else with a sam440ep test the warp3d mode of the latest version of wapview on their sam440 and see if it works?

The second thing I tested was the gl version of quake1 on os4depot and that would seem to run nicely now

I guess it time too look out my copy of quake3 and see if that works now next.

I guess it's too much to hope that this fixes the Sam440's biggest problem - that USB (hence the keyboard & mouse) stops working at random?

It would probably be easier if the rest of the team changed their surnames to Frieden

Thanks to everyone involved anyhow.

@all
Sad to report that this update is CAUSING problems :( on my Sam440 (original). Not only do my Workbench window (default white) backdrops now have the graphical corruption previously reported on the Sam440 Flex (except my corruption lines are red), but sometimes the screen is going a patterned greeny-grey colour (looks a bit like a copper effect turned 90 degrees) requiring a hard reset

On the plus side, Capehills Quake 3 port (ioQuake3) now runs using Warp3D, and the slow-walking bug seems to have disappeared. Speed is still not great, despite using reduced visual quality settings (I posted before which ones you affect speed & which do not), but nice that it at least runs now.

Would like to know if the Quake 2 port works with Warp3D.

Ah, another excellent slap-on-the-face-improvement of AmigaOS 4.1 toward Amiga Inc! Keep up the boxing-fight against them, Hyperion!
