Any chance of an Amiga OS4 version soon, to show the crowds on my AmigaOne as I tour around the country showing the development version?

I would love to do an OS4 version, but I do not have the OS nor the SDK

Besides I think that the fact the preference gui was created using ReActor causes some problems aswell. I guess I will have to write the gui instead

@ Toaks
I have problems with my Mediator/Voodoo/PPC system too. Seems as though the programs tries to open a big-endian screenmode, when the Voodoo can only handle 16bit "PC" screenmodes for 3D.
Get a nice, big, grey screen but nothing else!

I am using MiniGL for the screenhandling, so I guess the problem is hidden in MiniGL somewhere. Not much I can do about it now, but I will try to do some research.

I am running the screensaver on a voodoo3 / GRex4K combination without any problems.

amipal: nah i got it to work now..

it needs 5mb SYSTEM RTG ram and some from your videoram (vodooINT in envarc:mediator/voodooint) .

weird that it uses SYSTEM RTG ram, maybe just my sys but then again i can play quake2 etc in w3d mode with 2mb SYSTEM RTG ram free and 8mb videomem free....

anyway its FAST and its cool (the screensaver)

my system: a1260/66/240/mediator/voodoo3 etc.

shadow: your grexx uses CGX , mediators use P96 ..

anyway it views correct modes here, just needs alot of mem.... ask me if u wonder about what i meant... (designated SYSTEM RTG mem vs w3d Designated Videomem areas..

cheers

correction , it needs 4.2 mb free RTG system ram (anything below will give u a grey screen) ..

sadly i cant view the mem area for the w3d (voodooINT area with any tool) but i am pretty sure mine never goes under 8mb..

hope this helps to all who have problems..

anyway this is gonna stay on my amiga as i love it (GL MATRIX screensaver)

@ shadow
I was going to suggest that it might have something to do with the texture size (256x296 I think).
IIRC Hyperion's Freespace has to be run with the texture width and height limited to 256 on both axis, otherwise the game won't run.

However, it runs fine on your Voodoo, so its probably something to do with my system... Hmm...

A1200, BlizzardPPC @175Mhz, 96Mb Fast RAM, Mediator with Voodoo3.
OS3.9, P96.

Any other Mediator owners out there who share a similar setup and similar problem?

Oh and i am ofcourse talking about 640x480x16pc MODES..., dont try higher ones for now , but a small test here showed that i needed 7.2mb SYSTEM RTG ram to view it in 800x600.

amipal:remove your wbbackdrop picture for a test and open AVAILp96 to see how much mem you have free (will only show SYSTEM RTG mem) this needs to be OVER 4 (minimum 4.2 it seems) to gt it to work, start the WOS glmatrx 2 times to get the menu and set time to 5 or something :)

good luck...

amipal:check your pm ...i will help u out PM , i will help u over irc or something....

pps:its not about texture size as it works fine on my mediator and a1200...its just about free mem.

@ Toak
I'll try running it with only the WB screen up then, without a background too. What exactly is SYSTEM RTG RAM? I'm assuming this is just Fast RAM.

amipal: no mediator divides your RTG ram in 2 parts , due to 8mb window... SYSTEM RTG and Video RTG... has nothing to do with fastram...its the ram on your Voodoo card..

amipal:it would be a helluva lot easier if u just met me on irc.... and i would send u " availp96 " and explain how to set the voodooINT settings etc.

cheers

The texture is manipulated within the program to fit into a 256x256 texture, so that should not be the problem.

I guess it is a memory problem as Toaks has suggested

shadow: the mem isssue is a very common problem due to weird elbox documentation and the installer doesnt do it auto , i will try to help amipal on it... , anyway tested it on 5 voodoo systems now (all was voodoo3 and 1 voodoo 5) (mediators) and it works great...if u have enough free mem :)

cheers

pps:exellent work!

Fantastic!!!

Works fine on my A1200/B1260-50/Mediator/Voodoo3 3000/48mb thing, straight 'out the box' on all selectable screen modes with various options selected & de-selected.

If you get to port an OS4 version, might I suggest you upload it to the contributions section on the Amiga website to be put onto the OS4 CD (Maybe).

Really do LOVE this saver, so how about thinking about some of these feature suggestions: ?

- Acceleration when it starts rotating rather than one speed rotation
- Having a slider for the depth of the code, how far in the distance is the farthest it will be displayed (Making it look bigger)
- Random starts already at a rotated angle (ie. Looking up to start with)

(One for PPC only probably)
- Having Workbench fade out as the code begins to fall
- Having the code represent the workbench behind it... Hmmm, brighter characters when windows are behind that part of the window (Giving al ALMOST ASCII art type look, only in realtime)

Hehe, I know, I know, but when you have ideas & do not have the knowledge to carry them out, you have to share them with people that DO have the knowledge.

Anywho, excellent work. I'll keep an eye on this one.

FuZion.

@ Shadow & Toaks

Got it sorted now! Looks like I was using too much graphics card memory (I *did* have 4 1024x768x16 screens open before!).

Thanks for your help, and thank you Shadow for an excellent piece of software!

No, runs fine on CyberstormPPC / Mirage / Voodoo3.

But I have (almost) all the screenmodes in defined and available.

Say, does this application use the Warp3D v4 vertex array drawing functions?
