tell me about it! That giant 3d boing ball was the first thing I'd ever tried rendering, so I'm an absolute beginner with this stuff. I pretty much had to learn by trial and error, also there are some good tutorials on the net:

I've only really briefly played with it, learning what I need to know as I've gone. It certainly seems a very powerful tool if indeed you can get your head round it
