TBH, i didn't bother to look for the reason.. Toaks asked me, if i could do a q+d port and i did just for him because he asked that nicely ;) That was all about it... i didn't think there could be that much demand for because there is UAE and so on... but as i were wrong on that, i am glad you made the port (without sound-error).

Plus, i think i'd had to look for that bug x times longer than you, before finding it ;)

Hm.. strange.. as my unfixed port uses an unsupported audiomode and thomas' port uses a supported one, there _should_ really be some difference.. well, anyway.. i won't bother looking at the code again.. XRick is working. Period

Now, back to that ROTT thing and its GFX bugs

Like I said, it used AUDIO_U8, which is unsupported, and without conversion, this shouldn't work (in fact, it sounded awfully crappy).

Thanks for working on ROTT. 10 years ago roomates and I had so much fun playing this in multiplay deathmatch mode...so much fun in fact that I forget what the theme of the single player game was! Your effort is much appreciated.

Dang, i cant play it. :(
It opens in fullscreen mode and in a mode thats just plain garbled. Is there a tooltype or commandline option to force window mode? I saw it when i escaped but it hung right after. Something went wonky for me.

Ivan

Just hit the F1 key when it starts, that changes it to a workbench window.

Dave.

... or remove the -fullscreen from the script file...

Well, i'd have done so.. but there were some reasons why i haven't:

1) My "port" wasn't a real port but rather just a q+d recompile. So it had the sound-bug, it wasn't optimized or stripped, etc..

2) Thomas simply was too fast IIRC the first mail from him regarding XRick was something like "Just compiled out-of-the-box, will upload soon" or the like.. so, i even hadn't a chance to tell..

Regarding ROTT.. i'm quite puzzled and lost atm
I can't figure out, where the gfx havoc comes from.. probably due to the lack of experience with FPS coding and the like So i'd be glad if somebody with more experience would take it over or at least lend me a helping hand..

My apologies..
