| @Cyborg I'm sorry to hear about your "wasted" time coding another RSS prog. But perhaps you do this screenblanker mentioned in this thread.
@all But why isn't their a site (DB etc) where developers and everybody else can post his ideas about programs and who's already coding something so that not everything is invented several times.
I some ideas too what to do with µA1-I for industrial usage but as I never coded something on Amiga except some Rexx, BASIC and HTML code I can't do it. OTOH I don't even know if it would sell, but if well (perfectly) done it would surely outperform any other system available in that sector. _________________ A computerworld without MS products and Windows! | About ideas: I'd like to see something like Quicksilver on MacOSX for OS4. Those who've used it know what I'm talking about. It's a very, very fast way of finding specific information in the OS and launching programs, using the keyboard only.
Quicksilver keeps track of email adresses, names in the address book, songs, bookmarks, files, folders and other information, and allows you to real time search it from a little dialog that pops up in the center of the screen. The trick is that the apps that generate this info doesn't need to be opened to get it, so if I want to open Amigaworld.net, I'd press a hotkey (could be Amiga+Space), the window pops up, type "amiga", choose the bookmark from the list and the browser starts and goes to amigaworld.net. Very fast.
Say I want to edit the startup sequence. Press the hotkey, type "startup-" and select the startup-sequence from the list, pops up in your favorite editor.

I have been thinking of something a little similar as well.
@Cyborg
Perhaps this will not do it but consider HMKs comments but run the whole thing as a RSS channel or subgroup of channels. All adresses, references, bookmarks etc. A data base which reads existing lists, creates a feed of information, can retrieve bits and pieces without opening the original program. A kind of RSS central to various bits and pieces I have on my computer.
Add to this or as an aside a project manager based on the same principles but presented as an RSS feed information. Just a suggestion, but RSS feeds need not be just a passive reciever if you get my drift. _________________ Greg Schofield, Perth Australia

| This looks quite handy and a useful thing to have.
How about making the preferences tab a simple button or menu option only, and getting rid of the rather clumsy looking tabbed interface?
Also did you develop a handy to use rss.library, or is it all handled inside the application? If the former, then it would be easy to develop a screensaver or alternative way to present feeds utilising the rss.library and the XNet-RSS list of RSS feeds. |
