If anybody has, please fling it my way too. I'd especially be interested in an icon which conveys the concept of "Amiga emulator" but doesn't infringe any Amiga, Inc. trademarks. Anybody got any ideas? |
In one of the first threads there were some examples done. They looked cool. Hmm I don't think Amiga will make a big deal over an icon. I mean how could they with the greatest piece of software for OS4.

| Sorry if this is a daft question. I have never used UAE in my life so am not really aware of it's usage.
Would this allow me to run OctaMED?
Also, I had a quick look through the docs, re ROM images. I have an A1200. How do I go about getting the image from there to my A1.
Cheers. _________________ Robert -- A1XE G4, OS4.1. Peg1 G3, MOS 1.4. Abel Soul - Check out our tunes on Spotify

Not a significant difference in general. The "normal" version may have a slight performance advantage. |
Cool, I'll download both and compare. Thanks for your hard work on this - I'm sure it's appreciated by all OS4 users (even a MacOS user - my brother!) _________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back!

| Fantastic! The hard drive emulation now boots EvilUAE quicker than my A1200 ever did.
However, there is still a bug which existed in the previous version and I believe appeared after OS4 Update1 was installed. A CD-ROM mounted with a suitable "filesystem" line shows directories in the root of the CD as files.
Any workaround for this, or weren't you aware of it? Or is it just me and Snuffy with this problem?
It would be nice to have a proper CD-ROM config option, so if no CD is in the drive it doesn't complain...
Anyway, very good. 9.9998/10

Yes. Although, there's no serial-port emulation or any kind of MIDI emulation at the moment, so you wouldn't be able to, for instance, use a MIDI keyboard for input.

Use the transrom tool which comes with the E-UAE package (it's in the amiga directory). This will make an image of your Amiga's ROM. Just run transrom from a shell, and redirect the output to create the image file. For example:
transrom >kick.rom

Yes. It is noticeably faster.

I am aware of this problem. It happens here also. I haven't had time to fully investigate the cause yet.

Yes. Definitely. The SCSI wrapper - which allows you to directly access host CD-ROM drives, etc. within E-UAE - will be supported on OS4.0 soon.

What is actually the difference between both versions you can download? |
The difference is the means they use to output graphics. One uses a driver that directly calls AmigaOS functions; the other goes via SDL. The AmigaOS driver is less complete, so, for instance, it doesn't support the Picasso96 emulation and doesn't support switching between windowed and full-screen display while E-UAE is running. However, it does have other advantages; for example, it supports output to Amiga chipset screens (including HAM and EHB screens), it can dither output when there are too few colours and do greyscale output.
