What's so funny about it? It *IS* the *latest* version of AmigaOS after all, so if you're still using 3.x you're not really up to date. |
Too bad that there is no OS4 for my Amiga and no, I wont buy one of these hyper-expensive-buggy A1 boards. |

Pegasos 1 was also buggy!!! And NOT only it's Articia S implementation!!!! µA1's are NOT buggy!
Hyper-expensive is relative. To buy a Windows computer you will have to buy: 1. A motherboard supporting the important stuff including a CPU that won't make Windows crawl. ATLEAST 100€! 2. A CPU, atleast +2000 speed class! Preferably +3000. Antoher 100-150€ 3. A copy of Windows XP 90-120€ Toatal: 290-370€
For this you get a low class PC not playing the latest games very well.
Compare this to µA1-C+AmigaOS4, around 600€. This is less than double the price. Btw the only way to run the BEST OS in the world! If you want the best you'll have to pay premium!
I think if Amigas were sold in the +10000 region a year we would see alot cheaper boards from Eyetech. And in +100000 a year we would have sub PC prices because of cheaper parts.
Let's see what Eyetech can do in the future with XC.

| Really great. (Both GUI and Programm)
For the Win XP/2003 "users". You should take a look at: WinConnect ServerXP There is a demo version available. But sadly very expensive... |

The µA1-C is most certainly NOT buggy. Neither is it very expensive. Last edited by salass00 on 16-Jan-2005 at 09:20 AM.

| Klaus is just an account that DJBase created some time ago. He has now had four counts of breaking the site terms and conditions by creating multiple accounts.
I would say when you see some trolling carpoleum written by this guy or someone like it just ignore him and hit report abuse, all these kiddies want is attention. Deny it and they will go back where they come from. |

Is that why you dont respond to OS4 users when we try to talk to you about Jabberwocky crashes? Because you dont like OS4?
Btw I just tried version 1.5 prerelease 8a and it still crashes after fetching the roster.. |

Like DaveP said, just ignore him.
There's one thing that's sad, though. When application developers start to take political sides we're pretty much screwed. I liked the fact that rdesktop is available for both platforms. Even though I only have one of them.
@thread
I'll be using RDesktop on my A1 a LOT

| Are there any plans to have USB connectivity supported?
I am thinking along the lines of connection to PDAs & in my case, a Sharp Zaurus. The Zaurus connects to PC's via USB & it's IP No using the supplied software.
Thanks, FuZion. |

| Why does it need OS4...? If it was a game or something that's hard to run under OS3 I would understand, but it's just a GUI, and it doesn't look that hard to make this with MUI or Reaction or I'm wrong.. As the program exist for OS3 (the heavy part) it would not be that hard to realize... |

It doesn't require OS4, but it relies heavily on the ReAction classes in it. I've seen the MUI version that was hacked together, and in all honesty.....I'll stick with mine thanks. _________________ Simon

When running WinXP, having an Athlon 64 3800+ or Pentium IV 3.8Ghz wouldn?t save you from a slow performing PC with 128MB RAM. Cheap K8 Chaintech/ASrock motherboard will do fine (integrated NB negates large memory I/O swings between vendors).

For games, K8 Sempr0n** or higher model numbered K7 Sempron would be sufficient (PIV Celeron counterpart is not quite competitive in this department but they will play the latest games) . When it comes to games, K8 Sempr0n 3100+ is very competitive with Pentium IV (Prescott) and murders Celerons. The GPU selection would be important for game applications.

Well, with an appropriate GPU and RAM selections one can run the latest games but don?t expect crazy 3DMark points, FPS and resolutions.
Notes; K8 Sempr0n 3100+ cost ~$122 USD*. K8 Chaintech mainboard ~$67.00 USD from Newegg. GeForce FX 5200 128MB cost ~$41 USD*. WinXP Home OEM ~$78 USD*. Total: ~$308 USD
*Pricewatch.com 370.00 EUR is roughly equal to 484.791 USD i.e. $114.79 margin for config modifications.
PS; OS4 RDesktop looks nice and one may mistake it as a Microsoft product (for dark side users this is good).Last edited by Hammer on 16-Jan-2005 at 10:15 PM. Last edited by Hammer on 16-Jan-2005 at 10:04 PM. Last edited by Hammer on 16-Jan-2005 at 09:34 PM.

| What a shame this comments thread has been allowed to be diverted from the news item itself. That flamebaiting post should have been removed IMO.
I hope accusations of overmoderating aren't causing a fear of doing any at all.
Please don't feed the trolls if their posts are allowed to remain.
Thanks, Martyn. |

I had a similar problem. In my case, it was a message that some friends had added to their list in msn messenger. So I connected using msn and accepted them. Next time, Jabbewocky started without problems.
Check the IMs protocols you use in Jabberwocky in a pc for such messages. _________________ PowerBook 5.2 MorphOS 3.15 PowerBook 5.8 MorphOS 3.15 Amiga 1200 BPPC/BVision AOS4.1 FE
