Software News   Software News : First native build of Quake 2 for AmigaOS 4.0 released
posted by Rogue on 2-Feb-2005 17:06:01 (14152 reads)
Leuven, Belgium - 2. February, 2005

Registered users of both AmigaOS 4.0 and Quake 2 can now find a first OS4-Native beta version of Quake 2 in Hyperion Entertainment's download area. Note that this version is restricted to software rendering but should otherwise be fully functional.

Enjoy!

Shogo will be the lastest.
I'm downloading the 68k_installer.

ok, i dont see the problem.

i will try this tomorrow again but heh option 1: make quake2 dir , 2. make baseq2 dir , copy pak files into (from cd) baseq2 dir...copy over files from os4 version, place them where they should be (root) and the gameppc.dll file in baseq2 , run the game (remeber stack) ...

anyway this is a slower way as its compressed but fully playable, anyway use sfs as rogue said...

OK DON'T USE INSTALLERS!

Follow the Toaks's post. Copy the data files (baseq2) and the files from the OS4 archive.

The sound is not so good, i must check the options.

Anyway.... It's Q2 on OS4! Thanks!

Already tweaked it to use the whellmouse to change next/prev weapons on the fly without using inventory

It runs smooth here. Only the sound is not too good.

grumpy:why copy it from the 1200? ...much faster just to reinstall (should anyway) ... what map pack? , quake 2 downloads maps if not present but sure download packs if you can as it will save alot of "slow downloads"...

If you click the 'Quake 2 server' button in the 'Features' box (in AW.net home page) there is a 60 MB 'map pack #1' available there. I assumed it is the maps for network games, I could be wrong of course

As for copying the installation from A1200 - well, because it is already installed there

Ok, tried the game on AW.net server - it seem everybody and his dog has a far better ping than me so I get killed a lot. It is kinda tough to play when people are running circles around you

Then I lost the network for some reason and had to reboot. Will probably try again later. With QuakeWorld and this, there's very little time to do anything else...
