Also the MUI libs classes issue needs to be addressed. Surely an MUI type one stop shop solution would be best?

I agree there. I get a program and it keeps asking about those classes and I am looking and looking on the net for it and most of the time I cannot find it. Well my interest in trying out that program goes out of the window. Because of this I have not tried many programs. Call me lazy but this should be addressed because it is a pain in the ass.

Nice review Mikey! Nice to see you joined the ranks.

I was under the impression the installer installed the correct soundcard driver during installation.

Ryu might be right (although no-one should be attacking my OS4 installation skills )- I know for a fact that we selected the correct graphics settings for the Radeon on a micro-A1. I can't remember what we did for sound, might have left it off. However, it should be straightforward.

Mikey-C - you have both CD updates burned for you, the stuff you need is under AHI settings (memory deserts me now )

@Ryu
@Toaks

The sound does definately should auto-configure with OS4 install on the MicroA1, when I built my micro A1 anyway, the installer doesn't ask you for any input with the sound setup, unlike the graphics where the correct screen mode has to be set.

Why not? My Antec case came with a round IDE cable, which works just fine with my uA1 . Round IDE cables improve airflow and free up some space, can be important in tightly packed ITX cases.

Regarding round cables, you've gotta buy the quality ones so you don't wind up with crosstalk. Believe me, I had nothing but problems with some cheap ones I purchased. I spent a little more and have nothing but priase for 'em. I should've clarified; my bad.

Well he is right, sort of. You should definitely use name brand round cables if you're going to use 'em.

My server (leedle P200) has round cables inside and I've had no problems with it.

dan.hutch: its a contrib! , end of discussion.

Whatever it should or should not that is up to hyperion to decide but yes there is no problem with going into the contrib dir and select install .

Sorry, no .

I think you misunderstood. All I was trying to point out originally was that the current OS4 installer automatically sets up AHI when you install from CD on a new uA1 system, therefore it probably didn't work for MikeyC (as a few other people have also pointed out) because he used a HD setup on a different A1. You don't have to go into contrib drawer and install AHI from their, as the OS installer already does it for you .

P.S. I was NOT telling hyperion what they should or shouldn't do.

I think the MikeyC "problem" can be solved using the Mixer (contrib)...

From the Mixer readme:

--------------------------------------
Starting with the CLI argument 'SETLEVELS', will open AHI (which inits all cards), load
the saved volumes from Mixer.prefs if present, set up the volumes accordingly and quit
without showing a GUI. This is great to put in your s-s so you don't have to start AHI
prefs or an audio program just if you want to use PlayCD for example.
---------------------------------------
