Miscellaneous News   Miscellaneous News : Excellent review of A1/OS4 in Datormagazin
posted by shoe on 28-Feb-2005 16:45:39 (7432 reads)
The Swedish computer magazine Datormagazin had a first look at A1/OS4 in the latest issue which will hit stores tomorrow. With over 90000 readers per issue it's one of the bigger magazines in Sweden. And to sum it up. They liked it!

"Fast, stable and cool operating system. Very interesting development platform"

I hope this trend of writing about Amiga (both AmigaOS & MorphOS) will not be one-timers.

Well I guess that's up to us isn't it..

Why certain individuals felt it necessary to bring blue people into a thread, once again?

I should perhaps change the colour of my smurf to red?

The translation is done (a few days ago) but we don't want to deny the happy ppl who do understand Swedish to joy of purshasing the mag, just because they are lazy..

Just hang on.. A day or two.

Excellent and excellent, well I don't know about that. If they want to review AmigaOS 4.0 they should concentrate on that and nothing else. Half of the article is about MorphOS vs AmigaOS and there's some negative comments about MorphOS that just doesn't belong there (stuff about Morphos being designed by a web designer).

Well well, atleast it doesn't say "The best Pegasos ever made!" all over the place like their previous mos/pegasos review had "The best Amiga ever made" all over it.

Hopefully they'll publish a more in depth review of AmigaOS 4.0 later on that is just about AmigaOS and its features.

/Björn

Thank you GGS Data! You have been one of the most important forces for the Scandinavian community (in some ways even global) since years and years back! You are a real asset!

Well, one point of the whole article was to clear up some of the confusion that arose after last issues "misunderstanding". So no, the purpose was not a pure OS4 rewiev. The name of the article is "An Amiga is an Amiga is an Amiga" and not "AmigaOS4 review ..."

I also noticed that a rather lengthy complaint was included in this issues letters to the editor column regarding the pegasos being called the "new Amiga". (p.11)

The writers aren't paid to be nice, they're paid to be honest and say what they think. When OS4 and MorphOS are apparent competitors I think this information is of great importance to the readers.. But then again, it might just be me..

I do think (and hope) that we'll see a more indepth article when OS4-final hits the streets.

Sincerely,
/shoe

@show

You can try to explain it as much as you want. I will still think it was anything but "excellent" due to the things I mentioned.

Hi

I somewhat agree with Orgin here.

And the world isn't about AmigaOS 4 against MorphOS.

Anyway, I think its very nice that people wants to have a look at the AmigaOne - AmigaOS 4 and the Pegasos - MorphOS.

As I also tried to wrote in the thread at ann.lu last month, when the Pegasos article was discussed there, I think we shall see these articles (and also all possible future coming) as a springboard to perhaps possible more coming. There was also an article about Pegasos 1 one year back.

Takemehomegrandma:

Thank you very much for the nice words !, its warming

And now, go and have a look at Amidelfs nice video from the nice PUSH-event, that was last weekend.

This issue is in sale from Narvesen in Norway tomorrow. The issue that went out of sale today actually has a review of Pegasos II.
