Get ready for the unending thread about the "mystery board". It's funny how a few words can cause so much speculation. This is how the "mystery computer" thing got started.

Well, I wouldn't hold my breath. Softhut has been known to make announcements in the past that never happened.

Confirmed with SoftHut via mail. I wouldn't blame SoftHut for simply passing on what EyeTech has told them.

Hopefully this will actually come to pass at a reasonable time..

If new boards will be distributed on September the minimum Eyetech could do is sent Daniel a fixed MicroA1 board to continue the development of Epistula (see this related thread).

They should solve the problems ASAP.

Meanwhile, outside the US, people are purchasing as much American crap as we can while the dollar reaches an all time low. Canadians are gonna start making jokes about the US dollar now

thats a sad story.

I am hoping Eyetech runs some extra meg-arrays with this next run.

really would like to see the XC being available!

For the near future I wouldn't hold my breath for the XC or "mystery" device.

New available MicroA1 and fixed XEs which are (/were?) soldout at dealers is a different story. I believe the amount will be enough to cover the initial demand for the coming months.

It's definitely Discworld force-of-belief we need here. I've had confirmation that the day OS4 goes gold is extremely close, and since quite a few people wanted to wait until then, there should be a lot of demand. Got my order in ages ago :)
People wanting to get their order in early should talk to their dealer, but expect to have to provide a cheque if you want to reserve a config (it shouldn't be cashed until the mobos are in stock anyway).

I've also been told extra CPU modules (800 MHz for the moment) and XE boards should also be arriving, but I don't know how many of either.

I shall now return to my crossword. Anyone wanting reams of information and what-not will have to wait until 1 Septembre, or visit the website.

@Amont

I'm both happy and frustrated to hear that OS4 is close to release. It's obvious why I'm happy, but I say its also frustrating because theres no strict definition of what "extremely close" means. Could be weeks, could be 2 months... I think I will pin my hopes on 2 months.

The only two features I'm missing is 1. usb gamepad support and 2. JIT 68k emulation. Oh, and maybe 3. OpenGL.. I'm hoping some demofreaks will make something cool. :)

But yes, OS4 final will be one big step closer to bringing the Amiga platform "back". I love my Amiga. I want a revival, of sorts.

-EDIT- Also, good news about more XE's potentially coming. MicroA1's are cool for their size and lower cost, but personally I want the option of being able to upgrade to different AGP graphics cards, and having slots for if I ever want to add stuff in future, and having enough room to open the side of my case and mess around with the internals easily - i.e. hard drives, optical drives. We need to keep the Micro's, but hopefully users wont be forced to choose them over an XE due to availibility issues.

@jahc

Extremly close.. Hmm let's see now.. 1 week to 2 years?!?

Not that I believe OS4 will take 2 years! But I would bet money
that it will be released before Christmas.

@jahc

I was under the impression that AmigaInput works pretty well as of update 3?
