| Ok, I must be doing something wrong here !
I`ve downloaded & unpacked the perl archive to my main partition( called OS4 ). I`ve downloaded & installed abc-shell to OS4:SDK/Local/C. I`ve made an assign in user-startup Assign SDK: OS4:SDK
I still get an error regarding sh: unknown command.
I`ve tried altering the start-up script as suggested by Chris_Y but then I just get perl: unknown command !
What very simple thing am I missing ?
Cheers

| try "path SDK:Local/C add" , but u could just put sh in "sys:c" if u aren't gonna use the full sdk. |

| Cheers, both options work.
Running fine now. I`ll play about later to get rid of some of the anoying requesters, but that is minor.
A great port of a great game.
Thanks Andy

There is a new version of abc-shell... You should download the new version instead...
It is at the moment getting validated on aminet.net and os4depot.net, but you are able to download it here: AmigaOS.dk _________________ Best regards, hnl_dk - Henning Nielsen Lund [Denmark]

| I have uploaded a fixed archive to os4depot.
The new archive has been built against the older SDL, so background music now works.
The audio buffer size as been increased to 4096 so the sound shouldn't be choppy.
The new archive has (hopefuly) all instances of $ENV{HOME} replaced with "/bubbles" so it should be able to find all it's files
I added a timidity.cfg to SDL from looking for it in /usr.
You shouldn't get any stray requests for volumes now, let me know if you still do.
Thanks toaks for the SDL info and the rest of you for your feedback _________________ BroadBlues On Blues BroadBlues On Amiga Walker Broad

| tested the new frozen bubble now and it works "great" , music and sfx and fullscreen etc are all ok now.
2 questions though...
is it supposed to be infinite lifes?
have to like...press escape if u get sick of a level ;) (maybe someone here who played it on some other os in the past can tell us if its like that there too)
ah and thew highscore entries turns up "black" in the list too. _________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com

I don't know for certain, but I can see any code that "does lives", so maybe yes it's infinite lives.

yeah, they do that here as well, can't see why. would be useful to know if that works elsewhere... (i mean on other OS) _________________ BroadBlues On Blues BroadBlues On Amiga Walker Broad

Yes there is code to do that, but it doesn't seem to work. I can't see why. That's why i was wandering if the feature worked else where. If apparently it does it must be something amiga specific that breaking.
I'll have one more look before moving on to something else, can't describe it as a "critical" bug, but it might just reveal some underlying flaw.... _________________ BroadBlues On Blues BroadBlues On Amiga Walker Broad

| I dont have an amigaone, so i can sadly not test this game myself. I have frozen bubble on my linux pc though, and i have some small issues with it. The game itself looks great and such, but i dont understand why it lacks a scoretable?? Also the game does not seem to get any more difficult as you progress, so in the end you will just grow tired as it does not get any harder.
The orginal bust a move games seemed to have much better gameplay, even though frozen bubble looks better graphical wise. |

| thomas:yes i agree...it offers no real challenge and with that infinite live thing....well the gameplay sucks in the long run...
anyway solid gfx and music doesnt help much.
other than that... puzzlebubble/bust a move is boring too over time and really not even close to how good Bubble Heroes is (68k aga/rtg game from 2000).
i expected alot of frozen bubble as i heard so much nice things about it and yes the gfx is fine and all but i never expected gameplay to be the problem with this game :)
anyway i know lovely played it for several hours in a row last night so...im just picky i guess :) _________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com
