hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : Warp3D plugin for FPSE (OS4)
   posted by shoe on 17-Jan-2006 20:44:21 (10751 reads)
As has already been mentioned on Amiga-news.de, safir.amigaos.se and this thread Mathias 'Amidog' Roslund recentlly released the first Warp3D plugin for the excellent Playstation emulator FPSE for OS4. Great performance has already been reported with the new plugin.

Get it now: gpuw3d.lha

I'd like to think that this release was inspired by the Cubic IDE that was sponsored by some of safir's members earlier. Keep at it Amidog!

You are correct as usual.

I got the game to start the intro, but the sound was skipping. I selected a 640x480x32 full screen, any ideas? I don't have the warp3d plugin installed yet. No docs & it's hard to figure some things out & I'm not a gamer.

Thanks

@sundown

The currently released FPSE has some bugs causing bad audio in intro movies.

@toaks

As you've been using a much more recent FPSE too, you would probably have had to test all games with the old FPSE and the Warp3D plugin before updating entries in the db...

Buy a radeon 7000! Brrrr!

I don't know how fast OS4+FPSE+Radeon 7000 would be, but atleast x86 Linux+FPSE+Radeon 7000 is slooooowww. FPSE runs like a slideshow :P Software rendering is MUCH faster and games are quite playable. 3D works just fine if I play native Linux games like Quake-II, but not if I try to play PSX games using FPSE.. Maybe Radeon 7000 is just too damn slow..

No, I have Radeon 7000 and in Warp3D mode FPSE is somewhat faster - not 100%, but by no means a slideshow.

Hmm, looks like I have to check FPSE 3D settings then.

Surely something is wrong if SW render is faster. But I haven't tried FPSE on A1 ever...

Radeon 7000 sucks in many ways but it's a basic card for Amiga usage.

amidog:ok , explains alot then

i wont update the db for now though i will continue dooing the internal bits as per se.

As for the sound bug , it still happens in the release version(which the users has) with cdda too, not just video streams with audio.

miksuh: the stuff is very WIP and some games crawl (slideshow) becuase of missing functions(?) , try another game if so...ofcourse u should try and thinker with the settings and yes there is alot of them to choose from.

A few tips , Crash Bandicoot 1,2,3 , crash bash and CTR is all very slow with w3d enabled while they play full fps in SW render , known problem... (then u have Spyro the dragon 1,2,3 which has a simmilar engine to crash but more advanced...well all theese run full frame rate here)

now if you used the FPSEDB and told us which games u have problems with in the db then we could actually try and fix them.

ps: if you want to mess around try the speed limiter = OFF function (in the "w3d plugin box"

I copied gpuw3d.dll to the plugin directory, but it doesn't show in FPSE-GUI v1.01. Is there a newer one, or what am I doing wrong?

Edit: spelling

@sundown

Start the GUI, choose the Plugin page. Click the filerequester button for the GPU plugin and select gpuw3d.dll (if you copied it to the correct location, it should show up in the file list). Then click Configure for the GPU plugin and set it up the way you like it.
