Yes, but that isn't a retail unit as Hammer suggested. |

This sentence is as stupid as say that Xeon and x86 are not the same |
Last time I checked that article clearly states POWER and not powerPC (which in ibm's case is a simplified version of the "Power", ie no amiga will ever run on POWER-based systems).
Despite being able to run each other's binaries they are not the same. one will cost 903409343902 times more than the other and only be avaliable in things like the IBM-I-series (AS400 for you oldies), while the other might appear in normal desktop systems.
and xeon and x86 are not the same. xeon is an x86 based processor. Opterone 1xx and athlon A64 FX, are almost the same (when comparing with the older single core FX).Last edited by Insanity on 08-Feb-2006 at 10:28 PM.

I'll be astonished to find a 5ghz watercooled laptop.

Remember, PIVs has double pumped (effectively running twice the advertised clock speed) ALUs (simplistic by design).
Also, XBOX360’s CPU has a dual clock speed domain i.e. L2 cache running at half of advertised clock speed.Last edited by Hammer on 09-Feb-2006 at 02:06 AM.

So the AmigaOS must be "rewritten" for every type of PPC? |
Existing OS has to be *adapted* to the targeted PowerPC (if there’s any quirks in the implemented PPC ISA).

This meants that i can not plug another type of PPC as accelerator (in a hypotetical amiga classic like design) an run the existing install of the OS?

Define "who's running the existing OS" in that case.
IF existing PPC OS doesn’t know about new PPC’s cut-n-paste quirks then it might break. Same reason why one can’t run an existing MacOS PPC on 'Book E' PowerPC. _________________ Amiga 1200 (rev 1D1, KS 3.2, PiStorm32/RPi CM4/Emu68) Amiga 500 (rev 6A, ECS, KS 3.2, PiStorm/RPi 4B/Emu68) Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5-6000 64 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB

Both 90nm and 65nm 'Pentium IV' are retail units. The 5Ghz overclocked "Pentium IV 631" can be bought from http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1645056Last edited by Hammer on 09-Feb-2006 at 03:14 AM. Last edited by Hammer on 09-Feb-2006 at 03:09 AM.
