| Well, a joke.

Do you really need OpenOffice on AmigaOS? It's not a very Amiga-ish application, considering it's size and speed.
Really, think about it! What do you need? For one thing, you need to be able to read (and maybe write) some MS proprietary formats, as long as so many people keep producing those formats. And then you need an office application, where a wordprocessor, a spreadsheet, etc. are combined. And that application should be an Amiga-look-and-feel application to be a good one, right?
OpenOffice is not it!
OpenOffice is huge (compared to Amiga applications)! And it's slow. Here on my G4 Mac, I use NeoOffice, a Mac-converted version of OpenOffice, and it takes ages just to start the application. If I could find a fast office package, that did the job, I would trash OpenOffice. In my day-job, I suggest to people, that they switch from MS Office to OpenOffice, because I see OpenOffice as a superiour application to MS Office, and people used to MS Office can easily switch over. On the Amiga, we never had MS Office (and thanks for that), so we can look at the situation with fresh eyes.
The Amiga way is to use DataTypes to support the needed formats. And then have a non-bloated, fast office package with clever functionality. That's what you want! |

I just installed FinalWriter on my A1 yesterday (I already had WordWorth5)... And it's so quick. Would it be possible to write some kind of plugin to allow to import/export M$Word Document ?

| Can FinalWriter read from datatypes? Then maybe docdatatypes can be used: http://go.to/docdatatypes Last edited by Geomol on 03-Apr-2006 at 10:58 AM. Last edited by Geomol on 03-Apr-2006 at 10:55 AM.
