This error isn't from version 0.8.28 or 0.8.29-WIP1 is it?
There are a couple of checks while initializing the CPU emulation that could produce this kind of error message, but not at that line numbers. Besides, no config option will produce that kind of error. It would be a fault in compiling E-UAE itself. Everybody would get this (and they plainly don't).
Can you check your binary isn't corrupt. Do:
md5sum uae-sdl
You should get:

Is your machine generally stable?

First, thanks for the update.
Just installed this last release. OS3.1 boots fine, but OS3.9 with Picasso locks my system as soon as WB comes up & all I can do is re-boot. The 0.8.28 SDL version worked fine. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid...

| Thanks for the update evilrich, keep going on like this and I may have to sling more moola your way... :)
Is there any place where I can get a guide akin to ".uaerc files for dimwits"? I'd like to create some hardfiles and so far I have no idea how to do it. _________________ logicalheart wrote: You know that pretty sound you play when the computer starts? | How about this:
hardfile2=accesstype,path-to-hardfile,sectors,surfaces,reserved,blocksize,bootable - accesstype can be rw (read-write), ro (readonly) - path-to-hardfile (should be obvious) - sectors (keep this at 32, never tried anything else cause it works) - surfaces (keep that also at 1) - reserved (bytes to reserve for the filesystem, keep at 2, unless you want use many of them) - blocksize (play with 512, 1024 etc. - 512 works good for me) - bootable flag (1 = yes, 0 = no) example for an bootable hardfile:
hardfile2=rw,DH0:UAE/HDs/AmigaSYS2.hdf,32,1,2,512,1
There is another option you can use - filesystem
filesystem2= access type,UAE volume name,path-to-directory,bootable - access type (as above) - UAE volume name (the name used in UAE-WB) WITH ":" at the end - path-to-directory (you can install it into a simple dir, accessable through OS4 too, cool) - boot able flag (same as above) example:
filesystem2=rw,DH0:System:HDs/WB31,1
the 2 at then end marks the "new" version of both methods, something "historical" methinks, without them it's slower i presume or hasn't got the features... |

Thanks for that mate. Quick question though, how do you create a hardfile in the first place? I have two blank files kicking around (somewhere) looking for something to do, but just in case I can't find them, how do I create them? _________________ logicalheart wrote: You know that pretty sound you play when the computer starts? no problem
mmmh, i don't know of any program that does it in the first place... back in the days where i was in need of hardfiles because filesystem won't work the way it should i used PCTask for it.
Install it, run it, there is a point "Create Hardfile" on the left bottom, you can choose the size although i'm not sure how much you are allowed to use in the demo...
Another solution would be, use a hardfile you already have, rename it, load it, format it, and off you go with another one...
There are other possible solutions, using DiskImage for example, but the way to get there is too complicated to describe ...or maybe i'm just too lazy to try it out, right now...
Anyway, i would drop hardfiles as soon as possible as filesystem is much faster |

@DJRJ
IIRC, the last version of WinUAE I used (a few years ago) could easily create an HDF ?

| Hi,
It looks like you are using my UAEConfig program from OS4Depot. Please note that it is rather limited in capability to date....but I do intend to update it shortly to provide numerous audio and video selections. I find that the audio problems with the new E-UAE-WIP1 are mostly all fixed...but I do recommend running it on its own screen (press left CTRL/ALT/SHIFT and S at the same time to switch video modes when E-UAE is running). Also, disk I/O is significantly faster...perhaps 20X faster on my uA1-C than the previous version of E-UAE! Great work!
For now, manually edit the .uaerc file you have to include the changes that evilrich mentioned in this post (such as setting the audio frequency lower etc.) and start e-uae by double clicking it's icon rather than by using UAEConfig...since UAEConfig will overwrite your .uaerc file changes.

The filesystem2= option lets you additionally specify the device name (not just the volume name) and the boot priority.
Similarly, the hardfile2= option also supports additional features, such as the ability to select a filesystem handler to use, to specify an RDB hardfile (rather than usual volume-style hard file), etc.

Thanks, I don't have a 16 bit screen available, but an 8 bit screen works fine & will do until a fix comes out. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid...

Version 0.8.29-WIP2 for AmigaOS 4.0, which fixes the problem with 32-bit screens in the P96 emulation, has now been released in conjunction with QuickFixes'R'Us, Inc. Thanks to Raziel for reporting the problem.
This distribution also includes some optional glow icons, courtesy of Dennis Smith, which you may like to use. Cheers Dennis.

| Hi EvilRich,
Actually, the uae-sdl version 0.8.29-WIP1 was not corrupt. Still neither 0.8.28 nor 0.8.29-WIP1 worked. I tested the memory with memtester and I couldn't get tested anything more than 70MBs without failure. So, I suspected that the memory chips had become loose when I changed my hard drive. So, I re-mounted the memory chips and tried memtester again. It can't allocate more than my free virtual memory (345MB after a fresh boot), but the test went ok. (I have two 256MB chips in my A1-SE and never had weird problems).
Now, uae-sdl 0.8.28 works fine like before, but 0.8.29-WIP1 gives me a DSI error. If I ignore the DSI error, uae-sdl 0.8.29-WIP1 hangs.
I use an sii0680 IDE controller with FFS file system. Although my hard drive supports ATA133, idetool can't recognize anything faster than ATA100. Nothing is attached to VIA IDE.
Any more pointers would be nice.
Thanks, Firbodi
PS: I just tried the 0.8.29-WIP2 version, and it works with no problems. It's great. Thanks a lot! Last edited by firbodi on 03-May-2006 at 06:10 AM.

I have done some testing with these two new versions. But I have a problem that's not in the previous version (0.8.28).
amiga.screen_type=ask doesn't let me choose screen mode. And completely ignores my screen size settings, always opening full screens at 800x600. Same settings file worked in the previous version.
Or is this a SDL problem?! I compared with the native version as that was the one I used to use. _________________ /Harry
