| Kernel 2.6.16.35 works fine up to now. There is small problems like it can't read hardware clock and some problem with alsa: "Setting up ALSA.../etc/init.d/alsa: Warning: 'alsactl restore' failed with error message 'alsactl: set_control:930: warning: name mismatch (Mic Boost Playback Switch) for control #22", "alsactl: set_control:930: warning: name mismatch (Four Channel Mode/Phone Playback Volume) for control #24" and " alsactl: set_vontrol:1025: bad control.24.value type'. other than that feels fine. _________________ A1200T, A4000 Mirage pro, mAmigaOne C, LAN.

That may be a config issue. The hardware clock should work.

Execute alsaconf as root to reinstall the ALSA drivers. That should make it work without error messages. _________________ A1SE: G3@600MHz, 2GB, 1GBit network card A1XE: G4@933MHz, 2GB, refitted AC'97 codec microA1: G3@800MHz, 1GB

What is PCI device 00:05.0? Can you post the output of lspci?

The VIA ACPI controller is not powered up by U-boot, thus hardware monitoring and the SMBus controller are not working.

Also the AC'97 audio and modem controller is not powered up and initialized by U-boot. I guess you have another soundcard installed? Or do you have a uA1?

I guess that's the AGP aperture base. AFAIK it's not used on the A1.

Never seen this error message before. Does the radeonfb driver work? _________________ A1SE: G3@600MHz, 2GB, 1GBit network card A1XE: G4@933MHz, 2GB, refitted AC'97 codec microA1: G3@800MHz, 1GB

| Ouput of lspci: 0000:00:05.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CM8738 (rev 10)
I have mA1.
Radeonfb works as far as I now (ncurses programs look fine). _________________ A1200T, A4000 Mirage pro, mAmigaOne C, LAN.

| Hints on getting Firefox to work:
I also have had problems changing between versions. You need to make sure that you've totally uninstalled one version. Then install it again. dpkg --purge firefox dpkg --purge iceweasel
There is a hidden directory in your home folder: ~/.mozilla Delete this or move it somewhere else. Delete it for all users (including root).
Now make sure that firefox has totally gone by making sure the following directories don't exist: /etc/firefox /etc/mozilla-firefox /etc/iceweasel /usr/lib/firefox /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox /usr/lib/iceweasel /usr/share/firefox /usr/share/mozilla-firefox /usr/share/iceweasel
Then re-install: For Firefox 1.5..... apt-get -t stable install firefox For Firefox 2.0..... apt-get -t unstable install iceweasel |

| Im not that good on making /etc/apt/sources.list I believe i have to many stuff in it. Im using sarge. Can anyone give me a good sources.list.
Im from Sweden
Thanks.
EDIT: I Bought a webcamera for test. Its the same brand but a newer modell. More ugly but at least it doesnt use the led lights that cant be shut off. This one uses infrared or whatever the soldiers are using for their goggles. At least the seller told so and showed it had a light picture even when its on dark places. Sure the picture was still light ;) and no lights that disturbs. I really dont know what the camera is called but it says Uni Flying 130 pc camera on the box. He said it was 2.0mpixel (the older was 1.3). However on the box it says 640x480/800x600 and i dont see any higher resolutions. Everything is in chinese ;)
Tested it but as you know i have the usb problem. So often linux freezes before the desktop appears while loading kernel and other stuff. I had luck 2 times, debian desktop KDE was appearing and i bring up Gnoomemeeting but it crashes. And also if not running gnomemeeting debian would freeze the whole system randomly. Thats when having usb ports enabled and something connected to them. But that you know already. I hope one day the uboot will be updated with the changes you wanted and that the usb problem will be fixed.
I remove KDE and reinstalled it so now i can run some programs i couldnt before. Shell often complained it couldn't show screen for GTK, something like that. Last edited by Kicko on 23-Dec-2006 at 02:55 PM.
