Announcement   Announcement : IncaGold and Hyperion enter into comprehensive license agreement
posted by Anonymous on 18-Apr-2003 19:54:34 (11729 reads)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Leuven, Belgium. April 18, 2003.

IncaGold GmbH and Hyperion Entertainment VOF announced today that they entered into a comprehensive license agreement which will see many of IncaGold's current and future entertainment software titles converted for the Amiga, Linux and Macintosh platforms.

Hyperion's first target for conversion is "Midnight Racing" which offers players the excitement of realistic night driving using a state of the art 3D engine.

"We are understandably very pleased with this agreement as signing with IncaGold will allow us to bring IncaGold's outstanding and ever-growing portfolio of games to our target audiences", said Ben Hermans, managing partner of Hyperion Entertainment.

Daniel Aurell, Director at IncaGold, added, "We are pleased to have found such a competent partner in this field to take our PC entertainment products to other home computing platforms. We are looking forward to together with Hyperion bringing many of our titles to the Amiga, Linux and Mac systems in the coming months."

think, would for them to be ported not so much directly to OS4, but to Amiga DE\Amywhere so that everyone could take advantage of them

Agreed, that would be excellent. And using Amiga's scaleable screen resolution technologies would allow those games to take advantage of higher desktop, STB and homecomputer screen resolutions and so every kind of AmigaDE enabled device could benefit.

Regarding 2D or 3D:

I do believe some type of games are best to stay in 2D, like for instance Warblade, Arkanoid, Lemmings, etc. That does not mean a 3D version would be bad, but this would IMO make them a different type of game. Many people find a simple 2D approach appealing and more relaxing.

I have to think that this can only be a good thing for the Amiga. Although hardly likely to bring people to the Amiga in droves, it may well bring some people back who left only because of the lack of support for the Amiga, or because a PC is the only way that they can do thier work.

Still, be great to play some of these games once OS4 becomes available...

Sure this is good news.

One problem on these boards I think is that everyone here are "veteran" computer users and have a tendency to think of everyone else as such.

Porting old games to the Amiga platform will certaily not entice hardcore gamers from other platforms to change to an Amiga, but younger people and new computer owners of the future may look at an Amiga and find a list of games covering the complete spectrum of what may be of interest to the casual gamer from car racers to platform games, flight simulators, RPG's, first person shooters and strategy games to solitaire.

Along with a list of multimedia programs and business applications and you have an OS that almost anyone can get by on.

We don't need THE state of the art product just yet (would be nice with a killer app though ) but we do need as fast as possible a full spectrum of useful programs working on a fast and responsive system.

If we can get that soon (before this year is out, hope, hope) then I don't think we have to wait too long before we'll be seeing more "original" products being done for the Amiga again.

I agree Steff. It may seem too little too late for some, but I think there is room left in the market for Amiga, and I think that there are some developers who will want to produce their products for Amiga once the new hardware and OS4 are available.

hmm, since we are nearing the completion of OS4, I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing some of these ports .
