| AmigaKit is more oriented towards direct retail. ACube did correspond with me about my last order, but the process was too complex. So I cancelled the ACube order and made a Flex purchase through AmigaKit instead. It's much simpler that way, and worth any small price difference. AmigaKit has a good website with purchase tracking and account history too. _________________ http://www.hostcove.com http://www.youtube.com/hostcove Sam460 : X1000 : X5000

I'm sorry, but are you trolling? THERE IS NO 1.4GHZ SAM. Sure, there *might* be one in the future, but if we should have learnt anything in Amiga-land "might" is certainly no guarantee, especially when nothing has even been announced yet (not that would mean anything either - vaporware is sadly quite a common affliction). _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. | It sounds like AmigaKit will get my order then. Wouldn't it be safer to go with the 667 or is the overclocked 800 board going to be solid? I have always chosen reliability over clock speed in the past. Opinions?
Thanks, -Jeff |

| My whole point re: price was in relation to ACube's position as both manufacturer and distributer. If they produce the board at X and sell to both resellers and end users at X*1.15, then resellers have to find ways to compete with that price, typically through higher margins on companion products or by offering value-added services.
In AmigaKit's case, any extra costs (within reason, of course) are more then justified by their exemplary service. I just think that ACube puts their resellers in a difficult position by competing with them directly. Being the sole distributer of AmigaOS 4 also gives them power over system sales overall, e.g. if ACube felt they weren't selling enough of their own system bundles, they could intentionally delay shipments of AmigaOS 4 and hardware to resellers until their own end user sales improved. This is why most countries have antitrust laws.
The situation might be slightly better if Hyperion sold AmigaOS 4 directly to resellers. Anyway, it's a very small market, and it's in everyone's best interest (for the time being) to play fairly. That could all change at any moment, though, and given the history of the Amiga market, it probably will. _________________ Sam440ep-flex 733 MHz/1 GB RAM/Radeon 9250/AmigaOS4.1 Update 2 borked A1200/Blizzard1260+SCSI-IV/Z4+MediatorZIV/Deneb/Voodoo3/CatweaselMk3 more borked A1200/MBX1200z/Indivision A500/clockport/RRNet A600/A603

| Now, now, Slayer... Let's not be sexist... I'm not buying a SAM... but, I am NOT a b**tard. Should we add the term beotch, as well? You know, just to cover ALL the possible bases? _________________ ¤¤ Official Hyperion Zealot ¤¤
