Hardware News   Hardware News : The new AresOne is available
posted by phoenixkonsole on 20-Aug-2010 18:19:48 (7070 reads)
What should i say... i'm glad and i think with all the discounts i offered it is a bargain

Available only at www.vesalia.de

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4S9xzKqNnY

The Ares project started in 2009 to bring
AROS enthusiasts and beginners a powerful but inexpensive AROS-compatible, preconfigured system.
Now we are proud to show you the next step
in AROS power computing.
The new revised version of the AresOne is
faster, smaller, more individual, but not necessarily more expensive.

From a 2.7 GHz single core(which is in truth a dualcore Athlon64 x2 with an deactivated second core) up to a mind-blowing
6 core CPU (remember you can also use Windows and Linux), everything is possible.
Starting with 1 GB of RAM, the AresOne can hold up to 16 GB of DDR2 RAM at 1066MHZ or 8 GB of RAM at 1200MHZ.

To allow you to start full steam ahead, a comprehensive software package has been added:

A-Live X Software Pack (includes Cinnamon
Writer and a Keyfile for Frying Pan) plus a free bonus DVD with IcAROS Desktop.

AMIGA MEDIA CENTER (AMC) - The ultimate
Media Center solution for all Amiga systems.
As soon as AMC is ready, you will get it as a free download. You can buy the AresOne in a nice media center case, too.

Amiga Forever 2009 OEM includes Kickstart and Workbench files required for the Amiga emulation, upgradable to the full version of Amiga Forever Premium Edition at a reduced bundle price.

Also you get ArtEfect (68k)

Optionally available:
Keyrah, Catweasel MK IV

You can choose between IcAROS desktop and AROS Broadway

To make thing cheaper for you i offer the following discounts:

I. On www.ares-shop.de:

1. If you register yourself on www.ares-shop.de you will get a 3% discount (lifetime) this includes the order of an AresOne on www.vesalia.de (in this case you get the 3% back from me) (THIS offer ends with august 2010 - this month)

2. If you bought A-live X already you get the money back if you buy an AresOne on www.vesalia.de (You get the money from me BUT you don't get A-live pack again with the AresOne you ordered)

3. A-live X is now cheaper. The Physical package costs now only 18.90Euros(7Euro less) and the download version 15.90(3 Euro less)

4. Also i offer Soundblaster live cards for 10Euro including 12 month warranty, for those who have a unsupported onboard-card.

Another way to save 3% is to make a new AmigaFuture subscription but please wait until this will officially announced in the next AmigaFuture.

http://aresone.de/

Oh and one bonus will be that i have 3 Audio Evolution licenses to give away.

During the comming week every already registered customer will get also the 3% discount for the future.

BUT you will get max. 3% off + the money back for A-live... you cant add the AmigaFuture discount to the sum!

All offered discounts will end with the release of AmigaFuture 87, if no deadline is written above!

Best Regards,
Pascal

Cue the slightly nauseating AresOne video. It's nice to see AROS in action, but not those flashing multicoloured PC cases again .

Looking forward to AMC's release!

To me it is, this 'news' is just someone selling PC hardware to suckers who can download AROS for free off the 'net and run it on their own PC hardware.

There are plenty of people out there unable to run AROS on their PCs just because they haven't a clue about how to repartition their drives, how to manage dual boot options with GRUB, or how to install and configure a virtualization software on their computer. Not talking about the most popular "I can't code a driver by myself" crowd. There was a time when Amiga meant - first of all - "easy to handle", and now Amigans are the one complaining that Windows is too easy to use and Windows users are too dumb to use a computer. I have a nice news for you: AmigaOS is a really difficult mess for a newbie, and looking to some OSnews.com reviews I am not the only atheist telling this (just to be clear: also AROS is, that's why I am here with Icaros and Pascal with Broadway).

Quote:
I wonder if I should buy up a load of old dell laptops, remove the dell branding, call them 'Amigo Ones', Stick AROS + an emulator on there and sell them at a special discount...

Providing you'll ensure total compatibility with AROS (and I mean full hardware support, the same way Pascal and Steve are doing with AresOnes and iMicas), you are welcome to do this, and I hope your business will be fine.

Looks good, how about some sort of E-UAE integration? A games menu with box covers would be pretty cool.

comes and even more..... i try to make a CDTV revival with focus set on games.
I also try to get the AMIGA brand(if not, than not! but the thing comes and i'm looking for a good name*). I think for an abstracted hardware like this it doesn't matter if it is x86.

*you can win one:

I need a name!

regarding the app-browser with store i'm already in talk with Shareware and Indie groups....

AMC+app-browser plugin= nice all in one

@Gebrochen

Do not take it so hard, I criticize always hard but gets things done. What I am saying that I am much dissatisfied with the AROS project from the beginning would be a amiga os that you can run Amiga software on x86, but it became never operate, only one amiga similar sytem to do their own thing.
If the AMC will be sold as it is, I will probably buy it. Would love to help if it goes with the theme and write plugins if it will support it.

And that about the MOS I would not say much about.

Well the target of AROS was always to be source compatible not binary. But there is a good start: www.emumiga.com

@shastar:
You don't have to think for too long to realize that theses kind of hardware will be much supported for the intent of running AROS then any other box would ever be.

You talk of free as if one shouldn't contribute in the slightest to the cause, those with that line of thinking thankfully take a peak and get tired easily and move along, those who are willing to contribute in whichever they can are contributing for themselves, contributing for a better AROS.

You will have a lot of time saving money, there is no Amiga in development and still no AOS4.1 for real Amigas.

Yeah I already know your opinion as well, repeating yourself in parrot fashion is quite boring.

I hope to enter the betatesting stage in two more weeks, if no nasty bug will come out I can answer "soon" :)
The hard part is done, now there is the boring part:
- translation files
- configuration files
- documentation
- bug fixes
- optimization

AMC is cool, but it needs some finetuning.

Still public beta would be nice

As it was pointed out already, AROS compatibility has always been meant to source level, not binary one, so software must be recompiled to work on AROS, exactly like ancient Unix software needed to be recompiled to work on Linux. This is somehow working already, with problems rising from GUI toolkits and system-specific functions that weren't strictly part of the original AmigaOS 3.1, but were introduced from third parties (MUI) and furher developments of the operating system. Binary compatibility requires another hardware abstraction layer someone is luckily already working on.

regards

Its called an AMIGA X1000, It runs AMIGA OS 4.1 but in your opinion its not an Amiga?

Hmm... Go figure....

Officially, it's called AmigaOne, not Amiga... They cannot use Amiga IIRC.

Besides, all these "it is/isn't a "true" Amiga" nonsense is really getting silly. Strictly speaking, none of the current Amiga flavoured hardware can claim to be the direct descendant of the original Amiga, not in name nor in architecture. So really, why go down that route, why not simply enjoy and support all of the Amiga-oids currently on the market?

@Wizzard

OS 4 users accept that you sometimes spend money to fund OS development and support "our own".

It's no different for AROS, but seemingly you can't think beyond this bias of yours.

Portraying valuable contributors to AROS as cheats and conmen is rather pathetic and childish, and I actually think you owe him an apology.

@Wizzard_o

You point me to where I've accused Hyperion/A-Eon/ACube of selling a product under false pretences and I'll happily admit my bias! Happy searching...
