AmigaOS 4.1 Update 5 CD for the AmigaONE X1000 "First Contact" system has
gone GOLD!

A-EON Technology and Hyperion Entertainment are pleased to announce that the

push towards the future release of AmigaOS 4.2." Trevor Dickinson added, "I
would like to thank the AmigaOS developers and the whole AmigaONE X1000
betatest team who have worked so tirelessly behinds the scenes to make this
a reality. I would also like to give special thanks to a few key members of
the team who went above and beyond the "call of duty" to ensure the success
of this project. You know who you are." The AmigaOS 4.1 Update 5 boxed set
will be supplied to all AmigaONE X1000 "First Contact" customers who will
also receive a free update to AmigaOS 4.2 when it is commercially released

I think this is an interesting thread.

It takes about an hour and a half for "first post" on what should be a significant news item for those hoping for a decent "next gen" OS4 Amiga. That first post is (quite rightly) just pointing out a typo (or two).

Next up someone comments that "at least this isnt about AROS". Not much else happens.

When someone vocalizes something that quite possibly/probably is the voice of the silent majority (lurkers or not) then they get shot. I think a dose of reality doesnt do much harm. I guess for some people though its just too "loud" when there arent enough pro-OS4 posts proclaiming the X1000 to be the new saviour of the Amiga (with little evidence that its going to be pushed to do anything new).

The X1000 was a shot in the dark. Too much time has passed and most have found something else to take interest in. I look forward to being proved wrong.

I'm happy for Trevor and partners who have finally managed to give birth this new Amiga system.
I do not understand one thing, if it is available to the public why it does not appear in the web shop Amgakit?

How many boards was in "First contact" batch?
Fast sold out !
Should we count beta test borads(125) + "first contact", or there was no interst in beta test and there was about 50 to 60 beta testers... and rest of that to 125 is First contact batch?
I hope that I am wrong...and that there is already 125 beta testers + 50 to 100 users in "First contact" batch...
Then we have around 200 or maybe more x1000 in use...
This is my question for AmigaKit,
How many boards did you sale to beta testers and "First contact" users?

@Benji

Not much to say. This CD will only be shipped with the X1000 First Contact anyway, so no need to start cheering very much really..

I just hope AmigaKit contacts me soon for my payment. Haven't heard from them since december while other have already payed.

And I'm also very curious about how many First Contacts were sold Guess we'll never know...
