Does this mean that 3D works in games now? i.e. will Quake 3 or any other 3D games work in hardware or do we have to wait for some other update from Hyperion as it seems to suggest from the announcement.
I have to say I haven't quite understood 3D support on the X1000. As I understand the Sam 440 and 460 can make use of 3D in games as their older Radeons are supported by OS4 for 3D but the X1000 having a newer Radeon was always left waiting for support.
Sorry - a bit confused

Apologies for what may seem silly questions but I never really understood what the 'missing' bit was that prevents the X1000 graphics card from supporting 3D.
Sure - Gallium will support 3D in the newer cards such as the RadeonHD in the X1000 but what about older software that isn't written with Gallium in mind? Will the drivers ever support 3D for older software such as Quake 2 or 3 on the RadeonHD in the X1000?

I've purchased the new Radeon drivers, just downloaded from AEon tehcnology site and installed on my 460ex, but, as already happened to sticky, they are the 0.53 version.
It should be the 0.54 version of drivers... any hint?
