| There is nothing more than what is in the news. I had contact to one of the new "cinemaware" owner. They only partly had the sourcecode so developing a successor is always meaning starting from scratch. They tried to get the money by kickstarter and failed and if they develop one of the games I see no big chance that they would create a version for a couple of hundred users (potential buyers), propably not even a AROS version. Propably something for mobile devices, XBox and PC (Windows/Linux). So do not interpret more in the news than there is. |

Ah ok, i thought you were speaking from a general POV and not for your own situation, which i remember from your own other thread. OS4.1 has changed significantly from OS4.0 so a lot of things are starting to require OS4.1 as a minimum. Especially in this regard - with latest updates - you have a preconfigured emulation environment with legal copies of the ROMs and OS3. _________________ Proud Amigan since 1987 Owner of various Commodore and a SAM440ep\OS4.1FE See them on http://retro.furinkan.org/

Indeed and I appreciate that.
I was just pointing out that I think they should either remove "all" or add "4.1" to: Quote:

So what? Do you have anything to add except stating the obvious? Of course downloading an ADF doesn't automatically mean that you can have a legit use of it unless you have either: a real Amiga (classic or OS4), Amiga Forever or AROS' replacement roms. I thought this was obvious for everyone. Last edited by Nibunnoichi on 29-Jan-2013 at 09:59 AM.

If an up-to-date install of 4.1 is required to take advantage of this offer, it should be clearly stated. |
It is in the news item, you must have missed it. Quote:

Yes, AROS replacement ROMs, which are now bundled with the by far most used Amiga emulator, WinUAE, and thus automatically installed and available for free and legal use for anyone wishing to play those games in a modern computing environment.
My issue is with trying to pose something freely available for over a decade as "added value for our customers only". It's kind of like C=USA beating their drums over having VICE pre-installed in their Linux distro.Last edited by Channel_Z on 29-Jan-2013 at 10:47 AM.

| Most cinemaware games do not work with Rom Replacements right now (except Wings) but that will certainly improve in future. It is not important anyway and we do not need to provocate each other.
Hyperion can offer some ADFs for download now. Not more not less. It does not mean any sort of "cooperation" or that Cinemaware will support AmigaOS as a major target platform now. If we want that kind of news again there must be offers that create interest by developers (new innovative concepts f.e.) |

It says all registered AmigaOS owners have access.
They don't.Last edited by Robert on 29-Jan-2013 at 02:05 PM. Last edited by Robert on 29-Jan-2013 at 01:55 PM. Last edited by Robert on 29-Jan-2013 at 01:52 PM.

| @Robert, Don't fret too much - you can download them from Cinemaware directly, just like people have been doing since 2001:
http://www.cinemaware.com/games/
Run them on any system that can emulate an Amiga, just like you would with OS4. _________________ Here for the whimpering end

Yes, I know. I already own boxed versions of two of them and downloaded most of the rest ages ago. However, that is not my point.
As I've been repeatedly saying, all I'm doing is pointing out an inaccuracy. _________________ Robert -- A1XE G4, OS4.1. Peg1 G3, MOS 1.4. Abel Soul - Check out our tunes on Spotify

The games are in a separate folder alongside the OS4.0 and OS4.1 ones, so as long as you have registered any OS4.x version you likely have access to the games. Did you try to download them? |

| This is great to see.
I wonder if the games are still the cracked copies. I remember a few years ago, that when I downloaded Sinbad from cinemaware, the adf was a cracked version from megabyte! Last edited by ddni on 29-Jan-2013 at 02:56 PM.
