| Thanks for the detailed reply.
My confusion regarding support for HD floppy disks was that I thought you wrote in an earlier message that your drive supports Amiga HD floppy format (1.76mb) as well as 880kb Amiga floppy disk format AND 720kb DD, PC floppy disk formats, but that it did NOT support 1.44mb PC floppy disk format. I remember well that Amiga floppy drives operated at half speed when reading and writing HD floppy formats, but if your drive works for an Amiga HD formatted floppy disk, why won't it also work for a PC 1.44mb formatted floppy disk? Both would require the same half speed rotation, wouldn't they?
Maybe I read your message incorrectly, or just did not understand what you wrote. Can you clear it up by listing exactly what formats are supported with your floppy drive? For example, if I have the required PC0:, or PC1: floppy driver in my Devs drawer, or the third party Mac0:, or Mac1: driver, can I read/write 720kb and/or 1.44mb PC formatted, or 800kb Mac formatted (can't remember what the capacity of Mac HD floppy disks were) floppy disks?
It has been a very long time since I used any PC or Mac formatted floppy disks in an Amiga floppy drive, so I am probably forgetting something, or remembering things incorrectly. Age has a way of blurring some things, while keeping others strangely clear as what happened yesterday. _________________ Amiga! What I've been meaning to say there, should be: the interface board can support HD format (both Amiga and PC), however the installed drive mechanism does not.

Yes, of course you are right.

Rather, it was my limited english that caused misunderstanding - because in post #3 by writing "floppy" I actually meant the drive not the floppy disk. If you replace the occurrence of "floppy" with "floppy drive" in that post, it will make sense.

All DD formats readable by typical Amiga DD drive are supported out of the box (so definitely Amiga 880kB, PC 720kB with CrossDOS, I am not sure of Mac formats as I never used them).
If you want to use HD formats, you need to mod the shipped drive, or replace it with real Amiga HD drive. The interface board and enclosure will happily accept it.Last edited by strim on 06-Mar-2015 at 08:09 PM.

| My A4000T came with a high density floppy, never really found a use for it, always covered the floppy hole to convert them to low density. The drive didn't last long, just started to make a lot of noise & wouldn't read disks anymore. Software Hut was selling replacements for $100 usd & low density drives for $50 usd, which is what I bought & still working today. Considering what it takes to get a PC floppy working on the classic, no one should complain about the price. Personally I just collected every disk I could find & copied them all to a HD on my x1000. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid...

I will release the current almost-finished version of AmiArcadia, and then that will the end of any further Amiga development from me. I've had it with you and others like you in the community. Hope you are proud of yourself for driving away one of the last remaining Amiga developers. Last edited by _Steve_ on 08-Mar-2015 at 04:45 AM.

Honestly, that language is pretty uncalled for. You already started another thread on issue within this topic which has been dealt with now.
If you go around criticising something and another person picks you up on that, resorting to this kind of behaviour isn't going to help. _________________ Test sig (new)

| Any news on the development and release of the product? I pre-ordered one. I sent a message to the developer through their support system on their website but haven't received a reply. |
