I am pretty confident it's just a hoax. Not that ATIO would not be involved with producing AmigaOne hardware, but the ANN announcement.

Ben Hermans has confirmed that it was a hoax:

And furthermore(From Ben):

Ok, so we know it's a hoax. Now, can anyone - in simple
terms -note the difference beween "mini-ITX" and "micro-ATX"
please? Advantages, disadvantages? I don't have time right
now to sniff up the specs,so a summary would be helpful.

I though two boards were to be manufactored - one
"Lite"(mini-ITX) and one micro-ATX board? These two were on
the slides Alan showed on AmiGBG2003 anyway?

micro ATX typically 250x250mm
mini ITX typically 170x170mm

And yes I was allso quite shure that there were a mATX in
the pipes... Just don't understand why it would be scrapped.

It would appear it is yes. In light of this, I would like to ask people to be more careful when posting articles from unverified sources as News stories. The last thing we need to do is fan the flames started by these rumours and fake articles.

It goes a little something like this:

Form Factor / Maximum Allowable Width / Maximum Allowable Depth

Mini-ITX / 170mm / 170mm
iTX / 215mm / 191mm
FlexATX / 229mm / 191mm
Mini ATX / 284mm / 208mm
MicroATX / 244mm / 244mm
ATX, full-size / 305mm / 244mm

I'm very keen on mini-ITX - I'm planning to do something like one of the projects here
