Kickstart 1.0 implements resource tracking for allocated memory. Virtually nobody ever used it.

I've never heard this before. Where did you hear this ? And why it was dropped from later versions ? And didn't all A1000's have Kickstart 1.1 or 1.2 at least ?

Then he said: "It hasn't got Memory Protection...that is bad, it is because it must be very buggy..."

I have never used OS4 so I don't know what to say...

Any advice?

Tell him that we Amiga coders are so good to make bugless apps that you don't need such "bloated" feature like memory protection on Amiga.

It was not dropped. It still exists there, see Task->tc_MemEntry in the Exec manual.

I also see that there is now AllocTaskMemEntry() call in OS4 Exec, which probably utilises this field...

Hmmm.. probably.

The first A1000 I used (Nov. 85) shipped with 1.0. It was really buggy. I would get gurus just running workbench.

IIRC 1.1 came out sometime NH spring 86? It was better.
