@mrodfr

Yes you can, all depends on drivers anyway.

The X1000 will come with an ATI Radeon R700 based videocard. This means Hyperion ARE making R700 drivers. So we can use an R700 based videocard (PCI-e) with the Sam460

But, how can I install AmigaOS 4.1 on this board only with one SATA port?

An IDE/PATA optical drive.

Maybe one could add a SATA-controller card. It shouldn't be necessary but it's an option.

Congratulations guys! Very nice. Promosing spec on that board... you really should consider good Linux support though..

Me not surprised either, but great job indeed. Keep up with it!

So it seems, that there will be 2 options in a few months. One Hi-End next-gen Amiga (AmigaOne X1000) and one low-end (Sam460ex and variants).

Its good to have expectations,
but to my knowledge RadeonHD driver is not done yet,
no one speaks of it and no one sais that X1000 will come
with the gfx card (see the X1000 specs), neither with
integrated gfx (so how then sys is complete?)

Currently, Radeon 9200 is still OS 4.1 default gfx
and only new thing I see on the EP460 pics is
Sillicon Motion integrated gfx support

Its interesting to EXPECT RadeonHD drivers will be usable to all
(EP440 for PCI cards, 460 and X1000 for PCI-E) but we need to jump
first.

Altough time is near, only avail thing at this moment is EP440 with Radeon 9xxx

@vox

A-eon site says that X1000 will use R700 GFX card (probably ATI/AMD 4XXX series).

>I am just surprised to see that the reported cache line size is 128 bytes. In PP460 >related docs I looked at, the given cache line size is 32 bytes.

maybe its 2. level cache line size.

On the 460ex page stand performance is 2dmips/MHZ

I have search for values other CPU get and some links to compare speed.best read all comments on page below.the k10 and nehalem look very high, but that the very slow Intel Atom have 2,5 dmips/MHZ is intresting and i think a 1 GHZ Peg2 is lots faster.

with 900 MHZ aone its intresting to see real world benchmarks, because SAM have faster mem, can help the slow performance /MHZ 460 ex CPU

"""""
http://www.amdzone.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=136992

The Cortex A9 does 2 DMIPS/MHz aggregate. The Atom does 2.5. K10 does 16. Nehalem does 47. So there is a real, concrete gap between the best case scenario for the ARM chip and the absolute minimum performance for Intel/AMD. To be clear, Atom is within range of ARM (particulary given Intel's inability to produce an IGP chipset), but it is unlikely that Bobcat will repeat Intel's mistake.

some results :

Quote:

uA1-750GX 2.32 DMIPS/MHz @800MHz = 1856 DMIPS
440EP 2.0 DMIPS/MHz @667MHz = 1334 DMIPS - dvd playback 80-85% CPU, 20% short
460ex 2.0 DMIPS/MHz @1.066Ghz = 2132 DMIPS

Still remember when I was telling everybody that AOS on 460ex was a sure bet, and some were saying the opposite...

@asymetrix

DMIPS results aren´t very helpful. 750GX has really big L2 cache (1 MB) and I think it will be as fast or faster than 1066 MHz 460EX. You can see www.eembc.com for comparison: 750GX 1 GHz is 2 times faster (in sense Y=2*X) than 440EP 666 MHz.

Here i find a table of Vax Mips value.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instructions_per_second

seem simualar with dmips, because arm reach 2.
the legendary pa6t values are too here, its 4,4.

A AMD athlon 64 3800+ X2 (dualcore) reach 7,3

but the values need divide by core number(2 in case), so PA6 reach 2,2 on 1 core.thats much slower performance/MHZ as other CPU.

seem no wonder possible, a CPU that need less power have less performance /MHZ.

Of course, Dhrystone, Specmark and SpecInt92 have VAX 11/780 as their reference machine...

I would be very careful when interpreting these data. As you see, Cell BE PPE (PS3) has here much higher result than PA6T. However IBM claims that PPE 3.2 GHz scores only 423 SpecInt2000 (PA6T 2.0 GHz should reach 1000 SpecInt2000).

but we never see a confirmed specint value of pa6.
