Internet News   Internet News : AmigaOne Lite and AW.net covered at Slashdot
posted by CodeSmith on 23-Sep-2003 4:36:41 (8562 reads)
Just went over to slashdot, and they've picked up AmigaOne Lite news on this very site.

The Slashdot link is here.

Amid the usual comments I noticed a rather vocal Anonymous Coward, who was making a big deal of the Amiga, Inc court case and helpfully suggesting an alternative Amiga platform

Given we have these little helpers wandering around the net performing this service are you surprised at the resentment?

No, I'm not surprised. But keep the history in mind. Genesi's been getting flamed for a couple of years about all kinds of things like illegal use of source code, whether MorphOS/Pegasos users can consider themselves "Amigan" or not, that Bill Buck is the devil incarnate, all that kind of BS. And some people have reacted strongly to either direct actions by AI (the employee/contract issues) or indirect things, like feeling AI have dropped the ball regarding the legacy and all that.

Not to excuse bad behavior, which is bad no matter what. Maybe at some point people will get all this behind them; I hope so. Really, I hope Amiga, Inc.'s situation is resolved one way or another -- that's probably one thing that keeps people at each other's throats so much.

In the meantime, especially with products not out, people have too much time to spend flaming, etc. It's a classic rivalry; you just have to accept that people will show their worst behavior at times. I'd like to see people sticking to the issues, the product and company merits and flaws, etc. rather than personalities.

You know what. I hate slashdot... I call them slashduh. I swear it's like if they write about it, then it's the word of god. The way that little blurb is written you would think they were the first to discover a new computer. They never post any of my news which I think is very valid as far as news goes. I dunno... I am just done with that site. I am upset that my site shares the same perl code with them.

Who wants to open a site with me called SLASHDUH.ORG it would be a kinda "No #### slashdot! That has been around for years now! Glad you caught up with the rest of us!" kinda site.

Drew

P.S. Sorry didn't know bad language was filtered... I would change it but I don't think my point gets thru without the filter. LOL Infact I think it's better!
